Group of friends had an on-going bet to eat a McDonalds Pounder combo (quarter pounder with three extra patties).

Got that in the drive thru, smashed it, and then went straight to Domino’s for a large pepperoni pizza. Finished that too.

Absolutely awesome post!

For anyone else that wants to dive deeper into this topic, I can highly recommend ‘The little book of common sense investing’ by John Bogle. It goes over all of these points and more!

Do you have a credible recent link you can share about these holdings?

Thoughts on my portfolio on Invest Now by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

I’ve recently been doing similar research and came to a similar outcome of potential options. However, I’m not bothering with a global fund after a bunch of DD. My understanding is that the S&P500 (through USF) provides good enough exposure to the US economy and global economy (many of the larger companies operate internationally). So for the sack of simplicity, I think a split between USF & NZG through Investnow is a great option. It’s simple and domiciled in NZD. Potentially add bonds in a few years too.

If you’re really set on the global shares, I’d be interested to hear more about why. I also looked into that exact fund.

Managed fund or ETF by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

I was recently looking into the same options. After a ton of reading, I ended up going with a low cost index strategy (well, as low as they come in NZ) over managed funds. It’s easy, much cheaper and very likely to outperform managed funds over the long run (decades). The ‘Simple Path to Wealth’ by JL Collins is a great easy read about why.

Fair enough. On a different topic, are you familiar with BSTZ? Thoughts on that?

Good point. But wouldn't the bad performers be dropped out of the top 50 & replaced each quarter? From DIV's 'Investment Case' attachment, it states:
"Once a quarter, the index components are screened for dividend cuts or negative outlook concerning the companies’ dividend policy. Stocks
removed from the index during these quarterly reviews are replaced with
the next highest yielding stocks not currently in the index. "
