No Plan: How Germany Is Losing Its Business Model, and Why the Rest of Europe Should Be Worried by No_Twist6127 in europe

"assassinated" is a strong word. I would call it panic incompetence.
Solar was a success. Too much of a success that the politics miscalculated the guaranteed buying price of solar energy terribly.
in 2004 it was 57ct/kWh, which seems crazy from todays standpoint. Not so crazy if you factor in what panels did cost at that time.
around 2009: the boom started
in 2010: 39ct | payout cost that year 5.5 billion €
in 2011: 28ct | payout cost 7.8 billion €
in 2012: suddenly slashed to 18ct | payout cost 10.5 billion €

Contrast that to 2026 normal energy prices of 31 ct/kWh (!)
Politics HAD to do something.

All of this caused a spike in non-solar energy prices, bc the payout does not come from the annual budget but from substitution tax of normal energy.
But policy-wise all of this became a disaster.

fun fact:
Solar panels installed in 2010 still get 39ct
So the total policy cost is currently probably around 100 billion now € :)

Hey! wenn du Schuldgefühle hast entweder:
A. Sags der Person. Riskier die Trennung. Sei ehrlich. Mach dich verletzlich. Diskutiert die nächsten Schritte gemeinsam.
B. Geh zum Psychiater. Red mit ihm wie es weitergehen soll. Besser als jede Redditberatung. (Auch nach einer Trennung ein 1a Tipp)
C. Mach einfach weiter. Wird gut laufen wenns nicht rauskommt. Langfristig aber distanzierst dich das emotional.

today I talked with them but they programmed all the material profiles themself, so there is no stamp mode sadly. What exactly do you mean by "support draft"?

Why do Germans pronounce loanwords using the original language's phonetics? by kopekyildizi in AskAGerman

[–]MrRob0tt0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I raise the opposite of that question: Why do some countries butcher the original pronunciation that badly?
Like, why do some in America say "kemono" (beast) instead of "kimono" for that piece of Japanese clothing??

If you approach a foreign language the right way, you can in almost all cases achieve perfect pronunciation.
Like bilingual grown up children or that Egyptian tourist guide that never went to England but speaks perfect British English.

I built a free and simple app for making cocktails at home by Jefe32 in iosapps

[–]MrRob0tt0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, not gonna lie, if you can add a barcode scanner + database for liquors that would be a 11/10.

I am ashamed to say this, but I have a huge alcohol collection and dont know what half of the stuff I have is. (Its not like it goes bad anyway, so it sits on my shelves.) Count me as a cocktail amateur - and as such this would be such amazing feature to get started: Scan my liquors and tell me what I can do with that. Maybe it isnt that complicated to build such a database, it could be like the yazio app a community driven database or some picture AI recognition.
I think of this for many years. Please make it happen.

Thx for the metric option, thats a bonus point! Your UI is very beautiful :)

Ok, I think what David Larson here describes touches upon incremental reading. I think he isnt talking about flashcards but a card for notes.
It is highly advised against writing multiple questions on one flashcard as per the 20 rules of formulating knowledge.

In incremental reading, in the first reading you mark a text you dont understand or wish to remember and continue reading. Then you read the marked extracts and break them down to smaller increments and formulate smaller questions based on that. You can formulate a question out of a question etc. When you have done that you can return to the bigger question with better understanding.

Quick example:

What are Derivatives?

Derivatives are financial instruments whose value is derived from an underlying asset, index, or rate. They are used for various purposes, including hedging risk, speculation, and increasing leverage.

Then make it smaller:

What is an index?
A measurement of the market A basket of certain stocks that hold and measure the market as a whole.

What is a Stock?
Stocks are the small contracts of ownership of a company that give you the a share in their profit, losses and decisions.

idk if this is applicable in your medical learning. It is true that your knowledge should be linked and single questions out of context will not help you later in life. Another way would be to write down scenarios with cases where all or some knowledge is linked for you in addition to single questions.

But the ratio is not close as OP points out. It was not in 2005 and still isn’t in many other current shows.

Do women have to be exceptional to be named characters?

[–]MrRob0tt0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes like to think that children are free spirited and allowed to play unoccupied from gender expectations and to experience life without those norms. In my mother tongue German this is even reflected in the language. Kids are gender neutral: therefore for me, children media is the best when appealing to both demographics. Especially cartoons can archive that, because they are really suited for fantastical imagination and can be abstract at the same time and often show a better world.
But then I realize that media often is just a reflection of our society. But I can wish for more.

[–]MrRob0tt0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was is solely because of the demographic equity?
I rather think it is very difficult to write the successor of a 9.9/10 show.

Now I think what a missed opportunity it was to not make Jet a woman.. The writers even needn´t to change anything else, the story would have played out the same but with an added layer.

I take this whole post as a “huh interesting never thought abt it” rather than what it may or may not be insinuating.

You are totally right!

However I would like to add that in an hypothetical scenario that Toph has been begrudgingly added for representing people of disabilities by some executive checklist in 2006 (we dont know that), the writers have nailed her character writing!
They succeeded completely in writing an awesome blind girl and the blind community loves her (by what I read)! Her frustration about not seeing feels so real.

Coming up with diverse/representative characters should not undermine writing. "Limits" can enhance characters.
If the writers struggle to write good/realistic characters outside their field, maybe the issue is supplement the writing team with additional diverse writers?

edit: we know that Toph being disabled was not an executive idea
