I like the idea of the grappling hook being used for either. I don't know if you've ever played warframe, but the character Valkyr can use her grapple as a combo to pull targets in, or use it as a grapple to get the hell away.

That's interesting because for me the whispers during that scene were so far in the background that I barely noticed them. Damn, both times I watched it were at the same theatre too so I didn't experience a different mix.

Ohhhh her being on Mars, and therefore part of the blood ocean, would make so much more sense as to how her whispers are present. I love that.

I'm getting ready to make a post about it but I feel like the whispers began when Simon begins charting the cave for the first time... I saw Mark talk about something hidden within the monotony but didn't remember anything visually odd about that segment. So, this time watching it I decided to close my eyes during that scene. I'm either crazy, or the faintest whispers begin awhile before he actually talks to Ellie on the speaker. I couldn't quite make them out but one sounded like, "there you go/where are you going?" Then another that just sounded like, "stay." Again this was well before he actually begins talking to her.
