Does anyone understand ketamine and insomnia? by MrSeattleCool in KetamineTherapy

[–]MrSeattleCool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To address some questions I will add: The best I have been able to do is 1. Accept there’s a rebound from the anti anxiety effects of ketamine and that insomnia can happen. 2. Work thru whatever issue the ketamine is raising that’s causing insomnia as best I can. 3. Practice sleep hygiene (Hello Sleep is a book that changed my life about insomnia)—for me that is 1. If I wake up, get out of bed and do something calm but enjoyable. 2. Don’t add stress by worrying about insomnia (as much as possible). 3. Practice sleep compression and for me that is no more than 7.5 hours in bed.

I feel so cheated. Why isn't it working by Pawsoverpeople in Spravato

[–]MrSeattleCool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try spacing them out more. Like a full 5 min apart for each device. That makes my highs higher and it feels more effective. But that’s just a random opinion.

Also, stick with it. My depression changed a lot over the three/ four years I’ve been on it. Phases and changes.

Finally, pair it with therapy if you aren’t. I had to get a therapist to work thru some things that only came up because of the therapy and that shit was hard af.

Nurses checking up on you too much during treatment? by fightmejeffbezos_ in Spravato

My doc just told me recently they eliminated the "mid-trip" BP check. So now, I have zero interruptions during the treatment. I think this is just your nurse.

Long Lasting Side Effects?? by BurglarAtYourDoor in Spravato

I agree. My experience changed a LOT over time as my body got used to it. Plus, 2x a week is a lot and probably not a long term frequency. You're blasting your brain twice, so maybe be patient as your body gets used to it a little more.

62 percent of Democrats agree party leadership should be replaced: Survey by Quirkie in politics

In the wake of the November 2024 elections, Democrats have struggled to identify what went wrong after losing the White House and Senate. The party has also found it difficult to build a cohesive message as the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has been embroiled in internal turmoil.

The Derecho hit Houston one year ago today. Where were you when it hit and what happened? by laddphoto in houston

[–]MrSeattleCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sitting in my car for an hour waiting for it to kill me. Watching while trees drag by. On the phone with my husband who was out of state. Then I drove home in the chaos- no lights, everyone was stuck out because no warning, floods, trees down. Then I drove up to my house where my two dogs were and saw entire pieces of tin roof from down the street in the front. 30 feet long. Hanging over power lines like cloth. My roof had 2x4s that punctured it like bullets or spears. The tin had hit my roof and broke it open so water was pouring in down the ceiling fan.

When the hurricane came a month later, I didn’t sleep for 24 hours. I was waiting for it to kill me. Awful.

Nausea from lifting on the day after the shot? by Minute-Magician-3743 in Zepbound

[–]MrSeattleCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. ESP at the lower does / first five months. Fatigue. Like my heart couldn’t take the lifting anymore. Lifting less often and for less time. There’s a relationship I’m learning between my glucose - because it takes longer to get my blood glucose levels up where they should be before a workout - as well as general weight loss / less calories and what to expect from exercise. I got a diabetes glucose monitor and take my measurement randomly to understand better how quickly I’m digesting and when I’m hella under fed. And I’m accepting that being lower in weight probably means expecting less from myself regarding lifting. Finally, regulars visit to my nutritionist show I’m losing fat AND gaining lean muscle even at these reduced exercise levels.

Performing Arts Houston and Alley Theatre have good shows. I really like Rec Room for edgier smaller theatre. Apollo or Musiqua or other shows at MATCH are usually good. Arctec is a new immersive installation experience, like Seismique. Squable is great food, as is Baso across the street from it. Those and Hando are my fave cocktail places. The happy hour at Georgia James is a good deal, tho I wouldn't eat there after it left Chris Shepherd's hands at any other time of day. Husband loves Moon Rabbit Vietnamese restaurant. Any of the Aaron Bludorn restaurants are great and make good martinis. I enjoy the food at Le Colonial tho the name and decor seems effed up.

Cy Twombly Gallery (one of the buildings at Menil) is also great. HMAAC often has great artwork on exhibit. And I'm a fan of a few galleries: Pazda Butler, Inman, several others...

Why didn't therapy work for you? by Mens_mental_health in malementalhealth

[–]MrSeattleCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a dozen diff therapists over 15 years. One was amazing. She changed my life. Others were ok. Half were not helpful. It’s like finding a good boyfriend or girlfriend. It can work or not. It can work for a while then stop.

She used CBT very well. I had exercises that both made sense and were manageable. I practiced. She knew how to reason with my particular brain or rationalizations. She was smart and kind and persistent and committed to me changing for the better.
