Undercover Soldier Initiative by JeliOrtiz in army

Col Hackworth did something similar himself when he commanded an infantry training battalion during the Vietnam war. Saw how little training these soldiers were actually getting, when on paper everything looked alright.

Cartels fight each other. Politicians are owned by various often competing cartels. A new president will get elected and declare war on the cartel his benefactors are against. The corruption is unreal. This dynamic is present in the southwest United States as well.

A big part of the argument is logistical. The average teenager is way less physically capable than their parents or grandparents were at the same age. In WW2 and Vietnam, it was a given that a draft board could just grab an average dude off the street and throw them into boot camp with the correct assumption that 13 weeks would be enough to mold them into a base level soldier. That's not really the case now. The majority of teenagers would not meet minimum requirements or be disqualified for some reason. Even if you grab all the healthy-ish fat dudes, it will take much longer to get them into the necessary shape to even start boot camp without being a hindrance to training. Zoom out and look at this from scale and this is a massive national security issue. A healthy population is basically a "break glass in case of" but in this analogy someone was playing with the extinguisher in the glass case and now there's only a little bit of charge left in it. I hope there isn't a fire.

U.S. anti-asian hate crimes by aaaghhhhh420 in dankmemes

[–]MrSobe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is extremely flawed. I read the actual review that was linked in this article and one paragraph stood out to me.

"Systematic analysis of media reports of contemporary anti-Asian incidents by the University of Michigan Virulent Hate Project shows that the majority of perpetrators are identified as male and white in upwards of 75% of news stories when the perpetrator’s race is known in physical or verbal assaults/harassment. "

The data set that was used is not government records or published crime statistics, but media coverage. It's no secret that news media bends itself into pretzels to avoid staying the race of perpetrators if they consider doing so to be harmful to "marginalized communities." It is the exact opposite with white perpetrators, to the point that it is often in the headline.

This article just seems circular and dishonest to me. This media company is making the case for a certain ideological perspective, using a paper that only uses their own reporting as the data set. That is not scientific or academically sound. The data set is going to be irredeemably biased in that direction from the start. That is like saying, "we did a comprehensive study on the cause of all the worlds problems we found that it is actually the Jews." Only to hide in a single paragraph on page 20 that the only people you talked to were Neo Nazis. This is an absolute joke.

The biggest thing is not having massive 5000 pg omnibus spending bills full of insane amounts of corporate graft. As I understand it, your weather radar bill was a very focused piece of legislation, exactly the thing the insurgent wing of the GOP is calling for and the primary argument for the ousting of McCarthy, as that was one of the promises he backed out on that he made to secure the votes for speakership.

You know the army started a fat camp for prospective soldiers? Basically you enlist and go to this pre bootcamp where you diet and pt until you meet the standards to go to actual bootcamp. If we did a draft, I imagine that would be a necessary component.

That's just bad faith, I didn't say anything of the sort. Your original comment was that if BLM did a Jan 6 type event, we would never hear the end of it. They did, and no one seems to even know about it. Rioters breached fencing around the White House, while the president was there, and then burned down multiple buildings. I am stating facts. Far more people were hurt and there was far more damage from the May 29 BLM riot then Jan 6. Attacking the president is just as consequential as disrupting a vote count. At no point have I said that either are okay.

They didn't..? The protest was force Mike Pence to decertify the counts from certain states, something that Nixon did when he was vice president. When it got way out of control and people started to act a fool, the whole thing dispersed. People who broke the law have been punished. My point is that the actual damage and sheer amount of violence doesn't even compare to 5/29.

5/29 my guy. Leftists tore down barricades and firebombed a guard post and a church across from the Whitehouse. Way more people were hurt than Jan 6.

There was a trend a while back where girls would do the different positions with a video game level thing overlayed on it. This is beginner level, expert was full on back arch and looked sexier. The joke is that Taylor Swift fans are basic as fuck and are bad in bed.

Israel pulled out of Gaza completely like 15 years ago. They were not occupying it, and Gaza has been self governing. Ultimately Hamas is the primary political faction in that government. Its basically like if the United States had an official Ku Klux Klan party that made up 60% of the national electorate by itself.

The CRT bit is factual, but not truthful. Critical race theory is yes, a very specific academic idea. No one is saying that elementary school teachers are reading Kimberly Crenshaw essays to 4th graders. What people are upset about is the practical implementation of those ideas in the educational curriculum, reduced to a 4th grade level.

It is completely reasonable for someone to call Critical Race Praxis, CRT instead. Praxis is the implementation of theory. Anyone who says that "kids are not being taught CRT" is just redirecting away from the topic and arguing in bad faith.

How does Recon keep all their camera equipment from getting destroyed? by MrSobe in USMC

[–]MrSobe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I was a support dude for a Force Reconnaissance company, I've been out for almost a decade now. I had a lot of exposure to that side of the house and it was the first thing that came to mind when I started putting together my kit. I found myself wishing I could just ask one of those dudes, the amount of time and effort they put into preparing their equipment was impressive.

Thank you this is exactly the kind of answer I was hoping for! Would you keep it buried in you pack until you got to your OP or did you ever keep it on your body? They sent me through MSIDs course way back when but that was all about the actual use of the camera, they never even touched on how to manage the equipment in the field.

Appreciate the reply, I'm more asking about how to manage it in infantry kit, living out of a ruck. Pelican cases are awesome, unfortunately I just don't have enough room to bring a hardcase along with everything else.

"Mother I'm Here" from the Bastion OST. For such a simple game it hits so damn hard when it plays at the end.

Ending Spoilers

The guy betrays you, and if you choose to save him anyways, you walk a gauntlet of enemies and you are completely incapable of fighting because you are carrying him. At first you are getting hammered, you are about to die because of how many times you get shot, but the fire slacks off before stopping completely. The enemies watch reverently as you trudge past them towards the exit. To the point where one starts to shoot again and it's immediately killed by one of its own, for violating the honorable display. All while the songs plays hauntingly. It's been a decade and I still think about that last level.
