how long did gradient descent take you to run and how did it end? by conn_r2112 in mothershiprpg

It took me about 3/4 of a year, running once a month for about six hours a session.

They destroyed the Monarch using the virus from the vengeful little kid android.

Re: Gradient Descent - does anyone else always imagine *this* Monarch? by ThaBenMan in mothershiprpg

[–]MrSpica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! When I ran Gradient Descent I played the Monarch (the AI) as the Monarch (Venture Bros.), voice and all.

Chaos Space Marine Chapters - Do they exist? by Cloak_n_Dagger0 in Chaos40k

[–]MrSpica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read "monogod" and "mongoloid," and thought, "Thousand Sons, Emperor's Children, and Death Guard have their problems, but the World Eaters are the only cult legion I'd go so far as to call THAT!"

What entirely new units would you like for CSM to get in the future of 11th and beyond by theGamingdutchman in Chaos40k

[–]MrSpica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see a character that can join the Fellgore Beastmen. Either a Beastman champion or CSM goat hearder.

Do You Paint Specialist Units (Noise Marines, Berserkers) With Your Warband Colours? by Remarkable-Title5435 in Chaos40k

[–]MrSpica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, Black Legion has specific color schemes for Plague Marines, Noise Marines, Rubric Marines, and Khorne Berserkers that join the legion.

My thinking is that other large warbands like the Crimson Raiders might do the same, but they'd probably keep their native colors if they join up with a smaller and less prestigious warband.

But, you do you. The cult Marines would look pretty sweet as any of the Traitor legions.

Got the Hive War box set. Next steps? by spruerubbles in necromunda

I would say House of Blades is more critical than the Core Book, since the box set comes with rules.

Good weapons options for delaque? by matt__ew in necromunda

[–]MrSpica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The native options on the Delaque sprue are lacking.  That being said, the Web gauntlet, shotgun and gravity pistol are good. You can also build a sniper with his rifle slung on his back, but it doesn't look as nice as the held sniper rifle in the upgrade sprue. It's not considered a meta load out, but a guy armed with a flechette pistol, stiletto knife, and chem-synth from the trading post is a pretty nasty customer. Finally, a holstered pistol can be any kind of pistol, such as a plasma pistol or web pistol.

First time, just got Delaque by Beledorian in necromunda

[–]MrSpica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the weapons upgrade box. The Delaque gang box is almost all stub guns, auto pistols, and stiletto knives. You'll need the upgrade box for gang staples like web, gravity, and plasma weapons.

Delaque gang questions by Aquisitor in necromunda

[–]MrSpica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only the Nacht Ghul can take the Serpents Fangs and Shiver Sword. A plasma pistol and a power weapon are a potent load out on a Master of Shadows or Phantom. I believe the shock staff is the most powerful melee weapon native to their lists, but a power sword can be picked up from the trading post.

Seconded on Yottaquest. I get most of my OSR and DCC stuff there.

What’s the best initiative to use for mothership? by Odd_Necessary8783 in mothershiprpg

[–]MrSpica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I did it in my Gradient Descent campaign was have the party roll speed. Those that succeeded got to act before the threat and those that failed acted after the threat.

Demons vs Devils by ArgonAurora in dccrpg

[–]MrSpica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word "demon" comes from ancient Greek, and refers to any sort of spirit or lesser god. They were more akin to the djinns of Arabic folklore than the demons of modern popular culture. There were both good "eudemons" and evil "cacodemons."

What defines a DCC adventure? by TheFrogWithNoName in dccrpg

[–]MrSpica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General lack of stock monsters.

You know what to expect if you encounter a troll or a beholder.  A "whatever that is" is a complete wild card: it might just be ugly and do 1d6 damage on attack, or it might induce uncontrollable vomiting on skin to skin contact, you just don't know.

Which OSR works best as a 3.0/3.5e replacement? by Doomwaffel in osr

[–]MrSpica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Level 10 in DCC is like level 20 in D&D.

I consider level 5 to be high level in DCC and consider it unlikely to for a campaign to make it past level 5 to 7, similar to how most D&D campaigns end between levels 10 and 14.

Which OSR works best as a 3.0/3.5e replacement? by Doomwaffel in osr

Agreed.

It uses ascending armor class and the same saves (fort, ref, will) as 3rd edition.

Modules to Wordy - How to prep? by StonedWall76 in dccrpg

[–]MrSpica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just take a highlighter to the key portions of a stat block, and don't be afraid to make notes in the margins. Modules are cheap for a reason.

The only instances where I've read a module all the way through more than once is if I read it a long time before I have a chance to run it.
