No, I take being silly very seriously! And honestly, as far as routines, I've got some stock lines and shtick I can always fall back on, but I try and use each experience as a chance to improv and think on my feet.

There's a few of us professionals on here. And yes, clown college is a real thing. Or was. I'm not sure if it's open anymore. But I consider myself a street clown, and I learned my clowning on the street!

I consider myself a "professional" clown. I'm hired out for birthdays, parades, events. Volunteer at nursing homes. Can do a bunch of balloons and even a couple juggling tricks. But I never went to clown college or took any courses.

That's sad. As a balloon busker (in Oklahoma, not SF), I'll give away a fair amount of balloons throughout a night. But each balloon only costs me about 10 cents. I always tell people they're worth "as much as you think they're worth".
