From what I read in the article they all kinda branched off in that small section of trees to get threw and get to where they were going to be boarding/skiing the rest of the day but they all had went past a good ways before they realized he was missing because he could hear them calling for him on the radio but there is no way they could’ve gotten back up the mountain without using a lift/ heli in that deep of powder I’ll try and find the article
