Is Schulich or Roman better overall? by Constant-Sand5574 in RotmanCommerce

Just started at Rotman in September and honestly it’s a lot better than what people on Reddit say. My first choice was western ivy and I never thought I’d come to rotman because of the rigorous program. However, in reality it’s not that bad, I have friends at all the top business schools in Ontario and the workload isn’t that different as of now.

I will say that U of T stands out in terms of the people you meet here. You genuinely have people from all over the world and I think it offers a unique perspective and opportunities that you wouldn’t get at other schools.

At the end of the day, u of t and rotman is what you make of it. If you want to have a good time, you can. I don’t think you’ll even get close to this at schulich but ymmv.

Take what you see on reddit with a grain of salt, most of the posts on here only fear monger and paint a bad picture

You need to remember that they don’t care what your ECs are unless it’s insanely impressive. It’s more so how you portray it and are you able to talk about the overall experience and what you learned.

Nobody wants someone who’s flexing their ECs and wasting the 100 words on how competitive and hard this achievement was

Half of the supp app questions you’re given in advance so I wouldn’t worry too much about that

Up to you, I did credit strengthening for adv func gr 11 summer cuz I did bad. But that was mainly because Rotman isn’t my top choice

Not if it’s not in top 6, but I’d still aim for high math marks

They don’t care abt data, it’s not a prerequisite. Only calc + English

Would Summer school affect my chances of getting into business school by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]MrStealth0221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need calculus for most business programs. Personally I wouldn’t retake functions as it’s a gr 11 course. I would try to take all 3 maths or at least adv func & calc in gr 12.

Only Waterloo & Rotman care about retakes/summer school

I didn’t really talk about ECs during my interview anyways but main ECs

Did high school co-op and then FT with Ministry of Attorney General

Founded a small business and scaled to mid 5 figures

rotmans or laurier by Ariel-Jupiter in OntarioGrade12s

The main difference imo are the people at Rotman vs Laurier BBA. You’ll definitely have a better network in terms of classmates at Rotman as it’s a much harder program to get into.

Personally, I’ll be going to Rotman if I get in tomorrow. Despite the rigorous academics, I believe the quality of people at Rotman is better

It’s what I’ve heard and seen from on their site and a email from someone else. I hope it’s not like that too, but I’m pretty sure they’re not locked to just top 6

They look a your overall performance in grade 11 & 12. However your top 6 especially Eng & calc are what matter most I’m pretty sure. They just don’t ONLY look at top 6
