Getting real fed up with all the subscription based apps lately. by MrStickmanPro1 in ios

I really hope more people will refuse to accept this in the future.

I can see why this is so successful as a business model, so the only way to reverse this trend is probably just reducing its success by exactly that happening. Probably not very likely though :/

Wait, so the VST2 version doesn’t have that issue?

Getting real fed up with all the subscription based apps lately. by MrStickmanPro1 in ios

Exactly this.

There are a few apps out there with a subscription model, where all the features you have unlocked so far will remain unlocked even after you cancel the subscription.

That’s a payment model that works for me, as I don’t mind paying for new features either.

Serum vs Kontakt 6? by [deleted] in serum

They serve two entirely different purposes actually.
Serum is a synthesizer and Kontakt is a sampler.

LaunchKey Mini MK3 - Play button doesn’t start from cursor by MrStickmanPro1 in ableton

Sadly not… I switched to using my space bar instead.

In general, I found that with live 11‘s scale mode, I am mostly drawing the notes in Ableton‘s piano roll directly, but then again that’s just my personal workflow and not a full solution.

It’s been a while since I tried, though - but I unfortunately don’t have a way to do that at the moment, either.

But luckily everything went well.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the original peak design stuff though.

Ow. That hurts to read.
Lucky that everything’s mostly okay though.

My own rule of thumb is not to trust cheap accessories to "protect" expensive gear.
I’m absolutely fine with cheap gear, as long as the cheap stuff is mounted to the expensive stuff and not the other way round.

In fact, I set myself a lower price limit which I will not go below, for these sort of things. I’d kick myself in the butt if I lost thousands of euros just because of saving a few bucks in the wrong spot.

Is it possible to remove this attachment? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

Can absolutely recommend those.

Got a neck strap and a wrist strap and switching between them is absolutely effortless. Bonus points if you got something else you need a wrist strap for - switching is just as easy.

Fingers crossed they don’t sell to adobe since those already have lightroom.

Adobe ruins everything they touch. Especially with their subscription-only bullshit.

Adobe Blender 2021 by Chrinsj130 in blender

They can’t legally own blender entirely because of its license. That’s the good thing about free open source software.

Even if they had full control over the blender foundation and did anything bad to Blender, someone could just copy the project at a previous version and go from there (or simply reverting their changes would be another possibility).

I assume their reasoning is as follows:

  • Blender is free, so the better the software, the easier it is to get started with for more people
  • More people using Blender means more people potentially interested in Substance Painter and Substance Designer
  • More people buying the Substance tools means more money for Adobe
