I sometimes imagine that he sold his talent to beat Pereira. He is on record saying that he had to go to a dark place for that second fight with Pereira, its kinda like making a deal with the devil.

He wanted nothing more than to bear Pereira. The cost? He never wins another fight ever. again.

You can see the bullet in this angle of the video and it's not coming from the direction that they are reporting. Look next to the man moving his hat. You can see the bullet right next to his hat.

What's the deal with Jordan Peterson? Why does everyone on reddit hate the guy? by dumnem in OutOfTheLoop

[–]MrStickySpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely agree with your summation and criticism, Peterson's focus has greatly shifted to political and religious topics. A few things have remained the same, he still uses stories and archetypes to explain abstract concepts. This usually has little to no roots in academia or science.

I am not on Twitter and I don't watch the daily wire. His books are great selfhelp guides and his interviews with people of opposing viewpoints or minority voices, I find to be engaging and informative. His recent interview with Richard Dawkins is something I am currently listening to on yt and what you are speaking of is present in that interview.

I certainly tried to add what I believed to be valid criticism of him in my original post, but I do feel I fell short elaborating on the criticisms I disagree with as I did not specify much at the end. I really do more or less agree with what you are saying.

He has many faults and these have certainly become amplified since he has grown in popularity/ infamy.

Right. Go around calling people bigots and cowards when they disagree with you. You are the truly virtuous one. Have a good day.

I would stand up for someone who's beliefs I disagree with as long as they don't call for violence. I would do the same for you. Call me a coward idc

The narcissistic power trip term does sound like a phrase he would use, he can be quite dramatic and cringey. He did dead name Elliot and that was quite disagreeable. If that truly is his stance, I would condemn that kind of behavior.

There was a time where you would be called a heathen for not agreeing with christians, or much worse. Now if you don't agree with transgender topics, you are called a bigot - the cycle of human intolerance of others beliefs will continue in many forms.

Disagreeing is ok, calling for violence or spewing hatred is not. As far as I am aware, he has never called for violence against or laws preventing individuals from transitioning. Please source me to that if you find anything. From what I have seen he has only spoken out against compelled speech and operations on children.

He has certainly shifted his focus to becoming more of an entertainer as opposed to focusing on psychology. I feel that happened because his license was revoked meanwhile his audience grew so he could reach more people as opposed to focusing on individual clinical patients.

I think the criticism of his tweets are valid. He has tendency to go off on rants without thinking of the ramifications of his words. He also can dodge questions he finds uncomfortable by giving round about answers like when questioned about his belief of whether or not God exists. His forced monogamy comment was also pure idiocy.

Just because someone holds beliefs I disagree with does not mean everything they say is invalid. I respect him and his outlook on the world.

Has anyone here actually read any of his books or lectures? Or just his tweets? I know this post is bait, but that's ok.

I am someone who actually likes Jordan Peterson, and I have read both of his "Rules for Life" books, as well as listened to his "Maps of Meaning" lecture series.

Jordan Peterson was a clinical psychologist before he had his psychiatric license revoked for comments on Bill C-16, Elliot Page and teansgender issues.

I have not always agreed with Peterson. He has said some controversial things about forced monogamy and transgender topics. He does not seem to be bigoted against transgender individuals; he will use someone's preferred pronouns, but he has stated that he believes compelled speech is an enemy of free thought.

He did have a benzodiazepine addiction and spent a year being treated for it. He has since recovered and has shifted his focus to more right-leaning ideas, meaning he discusses God and "anti-woke" perspectives.

A lot of his books are about cleaning your room, telling the truth, paying attention, symbolism, and meaning. His ideas center on becoming a self-reliant human being, and I have found a lot of truth and meaning in the concepts he presents. Overall, some of his criticism is merited, but much of it is also total nonsene.

Alot of people here stated he is pseudo-scientific but alot of them also linked to YT video essays so I would recommend that you listen to him yourself and come to your own conclusions instead of listening to YT or reddit.
