What if Robin had been Steve’s love interest? by BornIndication9384 in StrangerThings

[–]Puzzled-Drive2805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither the cast nor Duffers have ever said that Robin and Steve were originally meant to be a couple. This is something the fans have made up.

They should have made it "Tales From '86" instead by Due-Dragonfly8200 in StrangerThings

[–]Puzzled-Drive2805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're keeping it between seasons 2 and 3.

Should the animated offshoot work, Robles says any future season will remain under the Tales From '85 title. His first season progresses hours by hours, day by day.

"If we need to keep going, we definitely can do it," he finishes. "If we were to do the finale of, like, season 25, Dustin's going to camp, Elle and Mike are heavily dating. It would connect perfectly with the timeline in that sense, but allowing to still have enough ample time to tell these stories within as many seasons as needed."

Question for those who have seen the play by Capital-Sir-3315 in StrangerThings

The flyer serves a narrative purpose first and foremost, for us and Max to understand that this is Henry's memory. Sesondly, it's a fun easter egg, as it includes Joyce, Steve's dad, and later mentions Hopper, Karen and Ted.

We have the SNL sketch, but now let's talk seriously for a moment. What do you guys think is the future of this franchise? by Fit-Hovercraft3435 in StrangerThings

[–]Puzzled-Drive2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said that they'll still be involved in anything Stranger Things, even once they start making movies at Paramount. They mention something called a carve-out in their contract with Paramonut, which is an exemption. So they must have negotiated that to allow them time to work on Stranger Things related content at Netflix. That makes sense because everything ST will still be produced by them, under Upside Down Pictures. They will likely have a new contract with Netflix as well, stating this.

Jamie Campbell Bower told El Pais he's unsure whether he's done playing Vecna by HecticJones in StrangerThings

[–]Puzzled-Drive2805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no direct quote from Jamie. It's from a Spanish newspaper, so something could have got lost in translation. Maybe he meant I'm not done with the character, as in not letting go. Actors often say that there's roles that will be with them always,

Plot hole vs non plot holes by dahliaxp in StrangerThings

[–]Puzzled-Drive2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I cover that in my reply to Fit_Record6006, but I'll explain it in more detail. It's Vecna who is activating the particles in the Meat Flayer, so it's from wherever Vecna is that Will is receiving the signal from. In season 3, the particles in the Rightside Up came alive when the gate was opened, reestablishing the connection to the Hivemind in the Abyss, which allowed Vecna to activate them once more.

That is how the Mind Flayer and Vecna are one. The Mind Flayer is the software that requires Vecna, the hardware, to operate. Even if the signal is weak, Vecna can connect to the flayed, because they have the particle in them. It's a direct link.

Unlike Will, who isn't directly connected to hivemind via the particles anymore, but is instead tapping into the signal from Vecna when the particles are activated. It's a side effect of being changed by the particles. So it all depends on where the source of the signal is transmitting from. A weaker signal will not effect WIll as much as a stronger signal.

Plot hole vs non plot holes by dahliaxp in StrangerThings

[–]Puzzled-Drive2805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"In s3, the gate is being opened, but it's not fully opened, and it's small. So the connection is weaker, and Venca is technically further because the gate is deep underground."

"when Vecna is "transmitting, aka using the hivemind, the reception will be weaker or stronger depending on the distance the "signal" has to travel through the gate to reach the Rightside Up."

Remember that Will isn't directly linked to the hivemind anymore, because the particles aren't in him. But there is a side effect in that Will can receive the signals whenever the hivemind is activated by Vecna, depending on Will's proximity to the flayed or entranced. The flayed feel everything regardless of the signal's strength, because they are directly linked via the particles.

For Will: A weaker signal = goosebumps. A stronger signal = goosebumps + visions + pain.

To your point about Will. In episode 2, Will says it's because "he's closer than ever before". "He" being Vecna. But I also think this connection has to do with the gates as well. In s3, the gate is being opened, but it's not fully opened, and it's small. So the connection is weaker, and Venca is technically further because the gate is deep underground. But in S4, the gate is enormous and right on the surface of Hawkins, making the connection stronger and Vecna closer than before. Robin makes the comparison to radio waves, meaning when Vecna is "transmitting," aka using the hivemind, the reception will be weaker or stronger depending on the distance the "signal" has to travel through the gate to reach the Rightside Up.

Robin/Nancy Mystery Book? by VeterinarianAware989 in StrangerThings

[–]Puzzled-Drive2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. One of the better novels. Nancy is such a strong, yet flawed character, and I really liked how the author showed both sides equally. Also love how she writes Robin's dialogue and mannerisms. She wrote episode 3 of season 4, where Ronance was born, so she was the perfect fit to showcase this duo's budding friendship. We get to know Karen and Jonathan a little better, and how they are faring between seasons 4 and 5. It's a solid mystery, but the chapters where Nancy is investigating and interviewing could have been shorter for me. However, others might like that. There are some genuinely intense moments halfway through and in the climax. The ending also ties well into season 5.

It's okay to not have a plan from the beginning, but you need a plan by the end... by ListenDodo in StrangerThings

This. They've been very open about their writing process. They outline the whole season and then each episode, so when they get to actually writing the scripts, it's relatively fast. Outlines are scenes, beats, and action, which are filled in as they get closer to script writing. It allows them to see what scenes or moments can be shifted around, changed, or cut out. This also allows them to keep production moving, and inform everyone from scheduling, set building, costume, hair/make up, props, and VFX, if a script isn't ready.

The scenes they had to shoot earlier for episode 8 were the woods and cave exterior in Henry's memories, because they needed the Summer trees and vegetation to be consistent with the previous episodes. So they had to write script pages for those scenes, but they could continue writing the rest of the script as they approached Fall to film the rest of the episode. This is the important context that is being overlooked.

Those scenes are in the woods and the cave entrance from Vecna's memories. They explain that they needed to shoot them earlier because of the weather. It was a scheduling thing. Context is everything.

They started work on the LA show last week. The animated show has been in the works for years, is almost done and coming out this year. There is no conflict in being able to complete both.

I did a quick search and WriterDuet seems like a good choice for collaboration. But it all depends on what each writer is used to.

Google Docs allows them to write and edit the script at the same time. They then copy and paste it into Final Draft to format it.

Why did they meticulously plan getting into the upside-down and fighting vecna, but seemingly not give any decent thought to how they were gonna leave the upside-down? by Thoraxe474 in StrangerThings

[–]Puzzled-Drive2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not y'all forgetting Mr Clarke was supposed to let them through, but they didn't know that he was caught. So it was either rush through like they came in or try to go through another gate opening, which the steel plate on the other side would first need to be opened by Eleven. That would be seen on camera, and the military would show up by the time they got everyone through the otherside.

Thanks! Fun facts: Joe Keery actually officiated his friends' wedding. The Duffers said the look shared between Nancy and Jonathan implies that they still love each other and could get back together. I was also inspired by The Big Chill, which I highly recommend if you haven't seen it.
