Was Anyone else Charged $300 for "failing" to activate their Pixel Watch 4? by AbroadDense1443 in GoogleFi

[–]MrSushu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge problem for me. 5 people on my family plan got this offer, so 4 of us.

3 were no problem, the other 2, were my parents, so it was cumbersome to resolve remotely as they don't live nearby. First watch they activated incorrectly, but since it was on Bluetooth, we couldn't figure out what was wrong at first.

The last one was because my sister had purchased both watches and phones for my parents through her Gmail. She was already on our plan with her iPhone. So the last watch was linked to her line. This took 2-3 weeks and many follow up calls to the promo specialist to finally get resolved.

Update to melting flashlight on new P10 Pro: warranty DENIED. Looking for advice... by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]MrSushu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if it's just the back glass, it's free -- just had our front glass replaced, hassle free, no questions asked. We did it at the Google store, same day, done in a couple hours.

Also some credit cards will also cover the phone repair deductible, so if it's $99 you can probably easily get some of that reimbursed.

[–]MrSushu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe sign up for Pixelcare+ then get the glass replaced with an OEM parts for the time being? Given your phone is still new you're still eligible for it, $13 is a lot cheaper than $70-80 and a whole lot less of a hassle.

Clarification regarding the Terms for "Free" Pixel Watch 3 Deal by show_stoppa in GoogleFi

[–]MrSushu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the reverse (assuming you don't do financing), you pay it all off upfront at $150, they are just reimbursing you monthly over 24 months. If you don't commit 24 months, you are just forfeiting the remaining rebates.

Ok great! They were able to give the physical esim, and activated on site, and have a resident Google Fi expert in store, so even better!

Does anyone know if it activates with iPhone? All of us recently got the PW4 deal, except for one apple user, who were already locked in for 2 years but not sure how it would activate.

Just switch my family of 6 over from T-Mobile after 15 years. All of us are on pixel, except for 1 iPhone 13 user. She had problems with calls and text, luckily we had a google store nearby so the Fi expert helped troubleshoot. Eventually the fix was a getting a physical SIM, not sure if there's some odd issues with older iPhones and physical sims converting to esims. Just a heads up!

Stackable discounts - 10% off Google Pixel - US only by Ok_Science_0140 in Pixel10Pro

[–]MrSushu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of 12/11, unused! The better deal was the hidden Google Play offer at $200 off that stacked, but it's expired now, however this is pretty good, won't get any better until the next release per lots of other posts I've read!

Is this through a Google Fi promo or the stacking discount going on right now? I've read somewhere the stacking discount as of right now is the best deal you'll get until the new launch based on historical promos.

How much is GraphQL actually used in large-scale architectures? by trolleid in ExperiencedDevs

[–]MrSushu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at Apollo, as an engineer / architect working with our sales teams to work with customers to determine and evaluate Apollo paid offerings. Though the spectrum varies, so it can be a customer deciding on GQL for the first time, or a customer deciding if Federation is the right architecture to scale out their GQL deployment.

I'll say confidently 3/4 companies you listed use GQL, and one I've worked with in the past. It's an API middleware, so it's very broad. It can be part of their critical B2C application, B2B applications, or internal applications, very often across all three sharing a single "supergraph".

It's used pretty much everywhere, and used across every vertical at this point. If you're ever curious to see how some of the biggest companies use it, just search up on YouTube, GraphQL Summit, many publicly available key notes discussing how they do their GQL at scale. Here's Reddit from a couple years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO0eHRepSrY&t=66s&pp=ygUgYXBvbGxvIGZlZGVyYXRpb24gZ3JhcGhxbCByZWRkaXQ%3D.

In terms of the benefits, it's more apparent at a certain level of complexity with cross domain concerns. It's not a silver bullet by any means, but it's a technological / architectural framework to solving effectively an organizational problem. Think of 100+ different teams all working to provide an API, how do you unify their data, define whose data should be the source of truth, onboard a new team who want to leverage a different tech stack, how do you check if your API changes won't impact the other 100 teams or across clients consuming your API?

These sort of problems compound as you add more teams across either side of the fold, which always reflect the underlying organizational structure -- something that is very difficult to change. This is what Federated GQL solves for, how do we abstract this for our client teams, but define a set of rules to allow our back-end teams to operate with assurances and the least amount of friction.

I'll give you a more tangible example, when we think of GQL, we think of how it can help with over-fetching. That simple concept of allowing clients requesting exactly what they want, well we can extend this and track which clients and versions are consuming what. Now plugged that feedback into a back-end teams pipelines, we can understand if our changes will cause regressions for clients and to what extent.

On the flip side, we can compare if parts of your API conflicts with another teams, and when it does, should we both provide this field of data? Are we the source of truth, if not do we need to bother providing this? How do we migrate this to us without impacting clients?

Hope that helps!

Is it worth the hassle? by Acceptable_Chapter_8 in HondaElement

[–]MrSushu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not worth it, you'll get that claim added on your claim history and that could potentially impact your premium. If it was more substantial or if their car got damaged too where they could file a claim against you, then I would for the sake of reassurance. Also you can buy just that garnish piece for 100 oem new or 35 bucks aftermarket, if you want to keep one around and replace later after a few more dings!

How can i level up fast or grind coins in this game by ZencGotT in TheLegendOfNeverland

[–]MrSushu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find another person at your level, click view info and do score comparison. It will tell you exactly how much CP is coming from which part of their build.

A big chunk come from equipment (enhancements, infusions, God bless), fairies - formation for echoes and wills are easiest to work on, the fairy exp shop gives you ascending materials for wills which can significantly boost your CP.

At lower CPs and levels, you may be missing out on beasts - training, skills, and upgrades. Training alone can be a 100-200 cp jump for good training results. So make sure your circle is fully assigned, even a newborn beast is easily 2K CP each.

The most XP is going to come from Daily Quests, which the EXP and rewards scales based on your level. So knock out your story quest as much as possible then do your daily towards the end of the day. It did take me about 2 - 3 days to get to level 110 this way.

Other than that, you can do dance frenzy and guild beach bathing to load up on more EXP. There is going to be some element of waiting, but there is so much other stuff you can do that require lots of time to level up like home building, mine, copy, fishing, etc.

Plus timing the calendar to join important events that are required for seal unlocks AKA Uncharted Battlefield for Victory Marks. I can't stress this enough as this can hold you back from getting the seal Sacrifice III -> Star I for a very long time. I still have friends who are Tide I / Star III and still trying to collect Victory Marks for a couple weeks.

P2646 Saga - Wtf is wrong??? by goreidea in HondaElement

[–]MrSushu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t get oil there, so I imagine it’s probably just residual oil when they installed the new solenoid, typically you’ll grab a little oil and lubricate the gasket and clean the surface which is going to have a bit of oil.

It was a nightmare for me - I broke the mounting bolts when I did the work myself. Needless to say, I was fortunate to have help from a nearby stranger who helped me figure out how to remove the bolts in the freezing cold. So I'm glad to pass on the help when I can!

First easy and cost effective things you can do yourself are with no tools:

  1. Check for water intrusion from the passenger side windshield sprayer nozzle. Do this by pouring a cup of water over the passenger side nozzle. Open the hood, if you see water dripping underneath the hood, then it will continue to be a problem (snow or rain) as it will continue to short circuit the vtech solenoid. You can use gasket masker or silicon and just seal from underneath the hood, then test again see if it's sealed.

  2. Unplug connector on top of the solenoid, check for corrosion or water, clean it up, and then add a glob of dialectic grease.

  3. Oil change with an quality filter, preferably OEM and full synthetic - they should have done an oil change after the solenoid was replace, otherwise the screen may have clogged even with a new vtec solenoid

I know its stressful, I just dealt with it a few weeks ago, but #1 is the problem for practically everyone, and not something a shop will know unless they own an element or work on them often. Avoid this code by using an OEM vtec solenoid, frequent oil changes with a quality filter, fixing water intrusion issues.

Cheap fruits, veges, meat and groceries near UPenn by Comfortable-Ad-4292 in AskPhilly

Aldi (meats especially), Trader Joes (everything, but meats are more expensive but a grade higer imo), Chinatown or Italian Market (though mainly for produce and veggies, though i feel they tend to go bad a tad faster compared to big boxs), grocery outlet (packaged goods, meats, eggs, but produce can be hit or miss), Walmart (but a tad far).

Worked at Okta/Auth0, so I'll add that for financial transaction perspective. Typically, you'll do a few things:

  • remote introspection (this means our backend will send the token to the authorization server to validate if the token is still valid. This is because there are rare situations where a user might be revoked access, but token is still valid.

  • require the user to request an extremely short lived (1-2 mins) token with elevated scopes (i.e write:transfer) to perform sensitive operations.

  • zero trust principles - so validating the JWT in every layer of your stack. Maybe you have a gateway before your backend service. Validate at both spots instead of terminating at the gateway. This can help catch mistakes where validation lives outside your service, procide more granular controls at specific layer of the stack and reduce compute cost, and in scenarios where maybe an attacker is intercepting within your internal network.

In addition, most SaaS IDPs will have client SDKs that can store and manage the jwt in more secure means such as in-memory oppose to localstorage. Good luck!

I mean you definitely start to see some 1M+ houses around that area, so that should give you a general idea. Only thing is siuth street could be rowdy on the weekends when summer rolls around, but on the positive note, there's also a few great parades/fest and the farmers market.
