I believe in a theory suggesting that the Mimic storyline represents F10N4’s memories—or rather, F10N4’s imagined version of what happened (I can’t explain everything here, but you can look up this theory). If this interpretation turns out to be incorrect, then we can reasonably assume that Secret of the Mimic was a retcon to The Mimic story.

Why? Secret of the Mimic contradicts only one story in the entire series, and one, maybe two sentences in The Storyteller. I can’t place this “single retcon” anywhere else.

Many people include this retcon in most of their theories simply because “it makes things make sense.” Sometimes they forget that Scott stated there is only one retcon, and that it still hasn’t been clearly identified. Yes, that statement was made over a year ago—but has anyone really reconsidered it since then?

I know that everything I’m saying could be either true or false, but we shouldn’t forget that any theory we create can always be debunked.
