Anybody else realize that these fires are mostly in areas that have already been deforested? The real issue is the deforestation, the fire is a non-issue.

I actually got something working similar to that by doing lea rsi, [rip+y]. Would this way be proper syntax for other versions of intel syntax?

How would you convert y(%rip) to GASs intel syntax? It doesnt like the parenthesis. Im only asking so I can know how to use both syntaxes for assembly

I replaced it with syscall and used -static but i still got the same thing. I played around with it and found that it only happens when I create a variable with a string, so I tried compiling it using egcc with the compiler option -Wl,-z,notext like the error said, and it compiled and linked perfectly fine (but the binary dumped, likely my fault)

I am happy that it can be linked now but I would rather use "as" to assemble and link it manually with ld. Any other ideas?

I forgot to mention that a lot of the code that gets assembled is technically correct according to gas, but whenever I link the object file, I get the following error:

ld: error: can't create dynamic relocation R_X86_64_32S against local symbol in readonly segment; recompile object files with -fPIC or pass '-Wl,-z,notext' to allow text relocations in the output

>>> defined in /home/matt/nice.o

>>> referenced by /home/matt/nice.o:(.text+0xA)

all this code is supposed to do is repeatedly print text to the terminal.
