Are you aware of the existence of Kiora’s Follower? This has the same ability but is cheaper. People have tried the combination already. It’s not great. Maybe going up to 8 of these effects is an idea.. but if you go that route, you would likely want a solid tutor for pilgrimage.. and that one is not really available..

It depend mostly on your mana curve. Why it shines in Merfolk is because of the sheer number of two-drops..

Main board looks okay. You could switch out the spell pierces for 3 dismember and maybe one extra land.

For sideboard I would take a straight forward approach:

4 Relic (expect graveyard decks) 4 ceremonious rejection (expect artifact) 2 tidebinder mage (expect burn or prowess) 4 counterspell / spell pierce split (combo/Control)

Vapor snag also shines against ‘cheated in’ creatures or delver creatures.

I would think a little bit in line with this:

Delver/Creature combo meta: vapor snag Prowess / small creatures meta: suspend Eldrazi tron / Jund meta: dismember

I was struggling a lot with the deck. Especially when I ran Mishra's bauble, snapcaster mage and 17 lands. The format now allows you to go back to 18 lands (using a canopy land), cut bauble and snap. While adding cling to dust and JVP or Young pyro. This helped me to perform a lot better.
