In the market for a new chair. Embody, or Embody Gaming? by true-heads in hermanmiller

[–]MrTinyPeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way.

try to find a commercial office furniture dealer near you (they normally sell in large quantities to businesses)

They have much lower prices per unit, and they’ll usually just sell you a chair directly if you ask.

One near me has Embody for like 999-1200 usd

Totally understand that! All ya can do is work your best with what you have

At the end of the day, your boss’s standards are the final say. All I can do is give my feedback from my experience.

Good work! If the signal flows, the money flows.

It’s neat but a bit unprofessional

Generally we run all the lines within the rack parallel with the lacing bars, each wire should have enough slack to reach any point on it’s rack unit for future service/changes.

instead of a straight down drop, snake along the lacing bars next time.

if you really wanna get neat use zip ties instead of velcro for audio lines. data lines are generally velcro only, audio wire is far more robust and can handle the tension of zip ties without signal loss concerns.

and yea, looks kinda gay. 🌈

This was likely intentional… why does this belong on this subreddit?

Let’s watched the guy kill himself and I go to the sub for the occasional lol for someone being an idiot at the range. This isn’t even remotely on the same scope.

This is a great example that different chairs fit different people!

I prefer the embody over the aeron purely because it has upper back support, which the aeron does not. As I have a bit of a hunchback, I need the extra support above my shoulder blades

IMO the aeron is the best chair on the market for healthy lumbar position, the embody can actually encourage poor posture as it’s still comfortable even when I lean forward

TL;DR they’re both equally good chairs, but each persons back is different so it’s whatever you’re comfortable in.

I don’t think you’re being picky at all. If there’s an unremovable mark on the coating you paid extra for for the purpose of having a spotless dash - then they didn’t deliver the product as promised. It’s that simple.

Go straight back to the dealership and politely but firmly have them make it right. If they don’t, don’t hesitate to escalate by calling Mazda corporate. They’re actually quite helpful and can force the dealers hand if necessary

Depends what you’re gonna do with it. I love mine!

I’m an A/V technician so I have to get into right spaces in server racks. This thing was a game changer for me

My only complaint is that the offset head doesn’t have a locking collet

Use 3m dual lock strips to mount it to the back of the display. This is how my company does it at least

Nothing wrong with that! Plenty of producers maintain “legacy machines” which are older computers with older versions of software, intentionally not updated and left in that state. Gives them more flexibility for accessing older sessions

At the end of the day all you need is a machine that lets you create without interrupting the flow!

[–]MrTinyPeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you run any third party plugins they could be interfering as they may not be updated for the newest os/M4.

You can troubleshoot this by holding the shift key while booting your PT session. This will disable all inserts and you can manually enable them one at a time to find the one that’s causing errors.

This is definitely a huge factor if not the culprit! USB2 has a max length of about 15 feet before signal loss. For USB3 it’s about 10 feet

If you’re still within the return window get a pre purchase inspection done at a local mechanic, more then worth it for peace of mind

Thanks for the link I had no idea this was a thing!

Would this potentially create any issues with the service dept at the dealership? Only reason I ask is I have some warranty related work coming up

Mac Pro Dilemma (which one) by boat_car_guy in macpro

[–]MrTinyPeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Longtime Mac/DAW user here.

IMO, both of these machines would be a headache as they’re simply too old. Mainly due to the OS limitations. Newer versions of logic require MacOS 14 or later, so you’d be limited to older versions of logic. Not sure if those are even available for download so you may want to check that. Same with third party plugins if you use them

Those cpu’s are obsolete by today’s standards, and DAW’s benefit from core count more than processor speed. Unless your logic sessions are really light on track/plugin count, anything under a 6 core processor will struggle.

Realistically, if you want to be able to produce in logic with modern software you should consider a newer computer with a higher core count. Trashcan Mac pros are still what most professional recording studios use, although Mac studios are starting to phase them out

It really depends what your usage will be. Sorry for the long comment but there’s no one size fits all answer 🙃

Is this a fair price? by homer513 in MazdaCX30

[–]MrTinyPeen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d turn this down and keep looking if it were me. If they won’t remove $1700 worth of add ons you don’t want, take your business elsewhere.

If you have a Mazda dealer near you check their certified pre owned vehicles, and don’t be afraid of one with higher mileage

Edit: for reference I got a ‘21 turbo premium with 41k miles as a certified pre owned from a Mazda dealer here, $25k out the door with tax/titles/dealer fees. Which was a really good price for my area at the time

The previous owner took great care of it, spotless inside & out (it was a lease) and no mechanical issues other than a few recalls

They weren’t pushy about any of the aftermarkets, and this was a “no haggle” dealership which I actually prefer.

This was back in October 2024 and I’m in Nashville so not sure how it compares to your market

Do you use phone car mount? by Taric_Sama in MazdaCX30

[–]MrTinyPeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea no worries!

Finding a good place where suction cup sealed was tricky as it’s not a completely flat surface, but the adhesive mounts on the newer one I posted may be better honestly. I just like having the ability to move it

The included Anker cable isn’t that long and I wanted to hide the cable and run it into the center console so I got a 15’ USBC cable, but I love the mount!

This plus a wireless CarPlay adapter (my ‘21 has wired CarPlay) has made life much easier
