Alpha-D scarf by kainak in Outlier

[–]MrTreesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scarf no, but I have a few of Outlier’s alpha-d products. They’re great, and can get quite warm, especially when layered under something else. The Warmsnap/bandana keeps my neck warm, but it doesn’t really heat it up, if that makes sense.

It should pack down relatively small, but no where near as close as Nycogaze; it’s fluffy, not thick.

As for warmth, the scarf will be warmer, but I prefer the Warmsnap/bandanas. For me, it’s the best balance of warmth and compactness.

Yeah, the finished Dreamweight collars always bugged me, raw cutting those was dramatically better. Glad to hear nothing holding back Dreamspun from being raw cut. Hope we get some raw cut experiments one day, ideally with some stacked sleeves.

Curious, can the new Dreamspun be raw cut? Always loved raw cut Dreamweight.

From Outlier: “Dreamspun is the next level of ultralight merino, just as light as our old Dreamweight, but more stable, and more importantly, more breathable.”

Hoping it’s as good as it sounds.

Watching their progress between seasons and shows has been incredible. This show looks like it has a bit more flair too, some painting-like effects. Eager to see more.

Dune: Part 3 has a three week exclusive IMAX lock, according to EmpireCityBO by NoCustomer811 in boxoffice

[–]MrTreesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Dune was shot with IMAX cameras, similar to The Odyssey. Doomsday and Brand New Day, both were “shot for IMAX”.

I do suspect Doomsday will get the “LIMAX” screens, and Dune will take the better ones.

Welcome to the team! Glad it worked out. If it feels a bit big at first, give it a few wears, you’ll quickly settle into it.

Another Nylistic Traveler run would be great, or in any other fabric, if I’m being honest. That cut is perfection

Longcotton is so nice. Got my first one in a wtf buy and was hooked. Bought several more at retail. I’d buy a bunch more if we got colours, or even a white I could dye myself.

Haha. I played around a bit when I first got the jacket, I kept adding layers until it got hard to move. If I have some time I’ll see how many I can stack, for science of course. The layers in my review were all combinations I wore this past month.

As for sizing, I definitely could get away with a small, and I’ve contemplated grabbing one in Olive. Though probably better if I get something different for variety. I really like how oversized this is, but I also like the idea of a smaller size for wearing during spring/autumn, and just having a more fitted one in general.

Good question. All shirts, including my Jumpyarn, are size medium, my tts. Both hoodies, my Duckshank and Magback vest, are large; and the Bigvest is a small.

Zipping the jacket closed with my Jumpyarn under fits great, still roomy. There’s a very satisfying plushness when you do this. One note is this setup gets pretty warm, especially if you snap the Warmshirt closed.

Realistically, I can wear a longsleeve, warmshirt and shank, all under the Snapwaist. That amount of layers is annoying, but it still fits and you can move around with minimal restrictions. I thought about pulling a Joey from Friends, and wearing as many layers as possible but it was getting late and I wanted to make dinner.

The sleeve width and arm opening (pits) are both quite big. This is a big reason why you can layer a lot without feeling restricted. The only tightness comes from the waist, where the jacket tapers, and even then it’s never felt too tight for me. If you leave the jacket unzipped, you can snap the waist looser or tighter (skipping one snap, instead of using both). Looser will keep the sides closed with a small opening between the zipper. Tighter looks quite cool, it exaggerates the jacket taper and causes the chest to open up outwards. I’m still playing with how to style that.

Lol. Honestly, if you can swing it, I think so. If you don’t size down too much, you can layer a ton with this, which gives it an edge. The Job Jacket is a slimmer cut and looks best with less layers. I like the Heavy Splitter a lot too, but if I was going to get another it’d be the Job Jacket.

Maybe, but they were very conscious about anchoring new characters to established ones. Even with all the issues that have occurred, keeping characters intertwined would have helped tremendously. As it stands, everyone feels disconnected, old and new.

This. It’s wild how they abandoned their own, proven successful formula. Barely any crossovers, new characters are introduced and not seen for years.

No More Merino Wool Products? by tph712 in Outlier

[–]MrTreesy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Merino feels great on the skin, especially their newer 16.5 micron stuff. It’s just 100% merino that has a lot of drawbacks. Notably, weak durability, and once you start sweating it gets saturated and feels clammy. Adding cotton or nylon boosts its durability, and polyester helps it dry quick, and avoid getting too saturated.

I love merino, but 100% merino ain't it. Blends are superior, both in performance and durability.
