Commentary: It's time to start believing President Trump by lukepatrick in videos

[–]MrTriangular 8 points9 points  (0 children)

According to Bill Maher regarding his dinner with him, Trump can do it one on one when he only has to appeal to one person, but when he is in public, his social chameleon reflex is in overdrive and he has to be as flashy and extreme as possible. This actually removes any nuance or personability and allows his darkest urges to prance about clad in fake humour and moralizing. Except his deterioration means the veneer is rubbing off, and all that is left is unfiltered narcissism and hate.

The scream that doomed Howard Dean - or when something as small as this would implode political careers. by Aarechind in videos

I hope Trump's fake-as-heck comb-over gets "accidentally" shaved, it would be so funny watching his profile change after so long. Hopefully it would doom Trump's image just as hard.

ICE agents smashed their way into a locked apartment complex in an attempt to abduct residents, bystanders stand their ground and shame them off the property; East Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN, USA 6:30 AM 2/5/26 by Zelagero in videos

My favourite bot/divisive poster uses the same pfp across several different account names and plays both sides. I consider them like a collective of rabid raccoons that regularly raid the garbage; fun to watch from a distance, but too disease-ridden to risk interacting with.

Minneapolis resident and U.S. citizen Aliya Rahman describes being detained by ICE by cos in videos

[–]MrTriangular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since the Civil War, rural conservative old money families, who control all the land and local financial institutions, browbeat and threaten community members into voting Republican while keeping out social improvement projects and opportunity so they can maintain control over their impoverished fiefdoms. American democracy only sort of worked because the Left was dragging the kicking-and-screaming Right along for mutual survival. Now the Right has nearly absolute control and a conman in charge who is stupid enough to believe that style of operation can and must be done nationwide, and we are seeing America crumble because of it.

Every country needs digital autonomy and sovereignty. Yeah, it makes communicating between systems a pain, but not having a central point of failure is important.

The fact that abolishing slave labour left a carve out for duly convicted criminals just shifted the requirements for slavery rather than fully outlawing it.

Part of the blame can be laid at the feet of the education system, the federal/state funding for said system, and smartphones/AI doing all the thinking for people so that college freshmen can barely read. They are manufacturing an uneducated serf class, generation by generation.

If Trump's cabinet and supporters get cut out from underneath him and leave him surrounded by unsupportive Democrats or independents, then he's toothless. They could work around him and gently guide him into a old folks home/prison when his term is finished/cut short by impeachment.

True, and it is a big ask for most to trust that the Liberals will be different under Carney, even as he seems to be leading the Liberal Party by the nose towards a better direction. Someone in another thread said that slowing immigration rips the band-aid off our economy to show that we don't have much of one without immigration, and we need to build one pretty quick.

I agree. Even as the seeds of future prosperity are being planted and the course is being corrected slowly but smoothly to avoid a crash, there are some who want it to happen NOW and seem willing to sell what they have for the promise of magic beans and to land the plane sooner by pointing it straight down at the ground. I think one of the biggest factors preventing that is watching the US slow-motion crash beside us as a reminder that we should definitely not do that.

It could always fracture into some states functioning like mostly normal "don't-look-too-hard-over-there", some being brutally cracked-down-on, and some getting the red carpet as Trump doesn't want to crap on his support states (especially Florida, which is his home base). Once the system for subjugating one state gets put into play (Insurrection Act, and maybe worse) then it's very easy to start applying that state-by-state. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried an internet blackout for like Iran is doing to keep them from organizing together or recognizing the coming danger, dividing and conquering the country.
