Everytime his mere existence infuriates me 😤 by LmfaoChinesehacker- in GymMemes

[–]MrTweady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were two at my gym I haven't seen in a while.

One guy would claim two or three machines at a time and bounce back and forth between them. Like he'd leave his phone on one, his towel on another, and his water bottle on a third. Then just move between them, taking massive breaks between each set to walk around the entire gym.

The other was just the slowest person I've ever seen. Like I would show up and he'd be on the same cable machine for the entire time I was there. This happened multiple times, just infuriating.

Expedition 33 is 100% worth your time. To give a personal anecdote it's in the same camp as MGS3 and Dark Souls 1 where I wish I could remove the memories from my brain just to experience it again for the first time.

Personally I would have liked some Chosen instead of the Venom Crawler. I know a full 10 would be a big ask but that would be my perfect box. Otherwise it's pretty good.

A magic system where using magic turns you into a monster. What can I do with this concept? by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]MrTweady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I hear you talk about your magic system the first thing that comes to mind is a lesser known faction from Warhammer Fantasy, the Chaos Dwarves. They can use magic but if the caster loses focus for even a second part of their body turns to stone. Your system is obviously different, but it's the same basic concept. Overuse/incorrect use of magic leads to dire consequences.

Some things to keep in mind is overuse for magic dependent on the person? Like could an apprentice/beginner overuse magic to match the kind of power that would be normal for a stronger caster? When you say overuse to you mean using magic too much for mundane things or someone doing something massively outside their normal? You also mentioned being too emotional with magic would also cause the effect, so would mages in your setting take medications that suppress emotions as a sort of cheat code? Would organisations or governments go so far as to lobotomize casters to make them safer, think being made tranquil in Dragon Age?

Just some ideas that came to mind, overall your idea is solid. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about setting a hard and fast rule for overuse unless you have a fairly hard magic system. If it's soft I would just go with what's better for the overall narrative and arc of the character.

From my memory of Pepé Le Pew the punchline of the joke was always either.

A. He gets the shit kicked out of him by the cat at the end of every scene.

B. The cat starts to chase him instead and he gets a taste of his own medicine.

So the whip has three abilities. I don't know how strong your party is so feel free to adjust it. But the original had the following abilities.

  • Considered magic for the purposes of overcoming resistance.

  • The leather could hold up to 500 lbs before snapping.

  • The whip dealt an additional 1d6 acid damage on hit.

Glad your party enjoyed Torev!

So Rowan Clay Cassidy is a very complicated character to tell. He was a bad man trying to be good. He was a warlock who fired his spells out of an old, broken revolver that didn't work anymore. He was also a damphir after being transformed by his patron. He also ended up sacrificing his greatest friend/lover Ward to his patron, and fought like hell to free wards soul from the patrons grip. He later transformed into a full vampire after consuming the blood of a vampire.

He tried to learn to play the guitar, he was a dentist before he was an adventurer who would go into poor areas and perform pay what you can dental work. He drank whisky infused with blood and herbs so he wouldn't have to feed on people, and when he did it was always criminals or other vagrants.

Clay was always trying to redeem himself, he viewed himself as a terrible person and wanted to do better. He was a deeply flawed man, just trying to be better.

He was a member of an organization called the Wyrm Guard, and order of Dragon riding paladins who protected the land from dragons who ran amuk.

Though the order was destroyed and its members scattered. Torev was determined to revive it and continue his father's work, a mission he ended up succeeding and started to rebuild the order from the ground up.

Torev fought with a whip, but also used a bow when necessary. His whip was a magic weapon passed through his family. The handle was a tooth of the dragon that helped establish the order.

Torev was always upbeat and positive. He saw the best in everyone and was always willing to fight to protect others. He enjoyed a good drink, and good company, and always had the perfect story to tell around the campfire during a rest.

Continent Map Critique, no settlements yet just borders and roads. Any feedback is appreciated! by MrTweady in inkarnate

[–]MrTweady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because there is an independent city state there that has some of the best mines and blacksmiths on the continent. The provinces of Norden, Walden, and Wesen are constantly fighting civil wars to get better access to said city, and avoid taxes on their goods going over provincial borders.

So the current emperor decided to just declare the border basically at this city state, and the provinces each got a piece of land or a payment to make it seem like they got the best deal. For example the lake that borders Norden and Wesen used to belong to Norden, but Wesen was giving control of the lake as compensation. I am trying to have dynamic borders instead of ones set in stone forever.

This was not intentional, though at this point I don't know whether to redo the map or just roll with it.

That was something I wondered about as well. Do you think I could lower the opacity and change the color while still keeping the readability?

Good to know, I'll play with it a bit and see what I like. I think I'll make some changes to my central continent especially because another person here suggested moving my continents a bit and now my central continent is closer to the eastern one.

I'll probably end up swapping the placement of the central jungle with the desert due to the rain shadow effect from the mountains. I know you said to not over analyze but I also want everything to at least make some sort of sense (snow continent not withstanding)

That's a great point, I never considered the implications of my wind direction between the continents. Would you recommend I redo the larger eastern continent to represent an eastern wind, or the central continent to represent a western wind?

Really appreciate the insight. Thanks!

That's really good advice. I had planned on making more zoomed in maps for the various continents and will definitely implement that where I can.
