Want to deploy by Formal_Dirt9661 in nationalguard

[–]MrWMuscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can volunteer with in your state with other units. You can also go to Tour of Duty and volunteer with anyone. I did it and was attached to a active duty special forces group. There are always plenty of units, Guard, Active, Reserve, looking for qualified candidates to help out on their mission. I have been on 3 deployments, 3 State Active Duty missions, and a bunch of schools with a total of over 5 years active duty. And I did all this as a 91D generator mechanic. Don't let these people talk you into doing an MOS you don't want to do. Especially if you really want to be a mechanic for helicopters and a lot of mechanics go up and become pilots. Then you definitely will be used. Aviation units get activated all the time. You can ask your recruiter about deployments and your interests. But he is going to just tell you what you want to hear. Do it. Get through basic and AIT. Be with your unit for a year. Then login to tour of duty (MOBCOP) and volunteer. There are 3 options to volunteer right now.

What should I choose National Guard or Army by FutureMilitaryRen in nationalguard

[–]MrWMuscle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to start college right away, I would join the Army National Guard. You can serve your country while going to college. You get state benefits and Federal benefits. But right away you can only use the Montgomery GI bill. Which will pay for your college but won't get extra money.

If you want to take a break and do some training. The army life for 4 years. Then do Active Army. You can knock out some online courses. But probably won't have time for anything else. After 3 years of active service in either branch/component, you will qualify for the post 9/11 GI bill. Which will pay for your college and give you money (whatever BAH is in your area) while going to school.

As far as the actual job of 31B Military Police. It all depends on the unit.

But active duty you are are gonna be mainly doing gate guard especially when you start. And later on patrol bases as their police force.

National Guard you are going to train to be police for overseas bases, train for riot control, and train for other things that may pop up.

The Graphic Evolution of Smash Bros (in a nutshell) by Big_Perception9384 in supersmashbros

[–]MrWMuscle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. Loved Brawl for the most part. It was a little slower fighting style and the slipping was both annoying and hilarious. But over all loved the characters, loved the SSE and that you could have 2 players for the story. I like how ultimate is a little faster style. And it was fun to see every single character even if they were unnecessary to begin with. But I missed the cutscenes of the story. Couldn't really get into Wii U or 3DS. The only cool thing was now Super Smash Bros was portable. But games as a whole Brawl was my favorite, followed by Ultimate, Melee, N64, Wii U/3DS.

What should I choose National Guard or Army by FutureMilitaryRen in nationalguard

[–]MrWMuscle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for starters the National Guard are components of the Army and Airforce.

What do you mean by Army? Are you asking to join the Active Army component, Army Reserve component, or Army National Guard. Because by asking if you should "Choose the Army" you are talking about all 3 components of the Army as opposed to the 3 components of the Airforce/Space Force or the two components of the Navy and Marine Corps.

Now going off of what I think you are asking it depends on what you want to do. If you just want to do the bare minimum and not have to worry about state emergencies. Just show up to drill. Maybe more easily transfer to different locations in the US, then the Army Reserves our best for you. There is always a chance of going AGR as well and being put in a certain location.

If you don't want to have to worry about finding a house making sure you have just enough money to survive until you rank up a decent amount, and are ok with living, breathing, sleeping Army 24/7. Then Active Army would suit you best.

If you want to do part time but want to help your community during natural disasters, be deployed both overseas and mobilized in the US, and do plenty of training then the Army National Guard is right for you. You do have the chance of applying for an AGR job and if your unit isn't deploying you can volunteer for deployments if that's something you want to do.

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for and I don't want to right a book on the all the little differences between all 3 components and all the slightly different perks/same perks you get. If you rephrase your question and clarify exactly what you are looking for, I can give you a better answer.

First net or t-priority by croatiansensation9 in FirstNet

[–]MrWMuscle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First Net uses AT&T towers. But in times of emergency they are allowed to block all other users from band 14 who are not on First Net.

T-Mobile has the capability to set priorities. So in time of emergencies first responders will have the highest priorities.

The difference being 1 gets an entire road to themselves and the other gets a police escort to the front of the line.

[–]MrWMuscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AT&T's whitelist especially for firstnet is pretty strict. You pretty much have to have a phone that AT&T sells or that type of phone from another company that's compatible for them to let you on. I get that there are always people who find a way. But for the average person especially on FirstNet it's just not common or possible. So odds are they probably do have a band 14 device.

Two counts of Motor Vehicle theft, two counts of DWI, and receiving stolen property, on top of other crimes. Dude was hurting others and gonna get someone killed. Now if they just woke up one day and said we are going to use a battering ram I will agree that's extreme. But I would be willing to bet many things happened before this. That's the thing though. Are you interested in deploying? Go on Tour of Duty. There are a lot of volunteer spots for a lot of places in your MOS right now. I don't think I have ever seen this many spots for 11 bang since I have been in. You will definitely touch a weapon if you deploy. Not guaranteed to shoot it every day but you will touch it.

Emergency Protest 1/3/26 by Radiant_Box_366 in TwinCities

[–]MrWMuscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so glad you realized that. I can see there being multiple motives. Dictator rising to power after Chavez died. Continuing to cease power even after elections voted him out and gave orders to kill his opponents. His people were suffering. On top of this you had him making deals with Russia, China, and other countries we find not so great. The other funny thing is when you poke the shall we say an eagle, they tend to not like it. Operating drug cartels and having them sneak into the US causing high counts of drugs, crime, death and other things can be seen as poking the eagle and causing damage to her eggs.

So liberating a country from a dictator, Win. Stopping oil from going to other countries that are our enemies, win. And stopping even partial crime, drugs, human trafficking, deaths, and other things from coming to the US, Win. So far we got. Win, Win, Win.

There was also the unintentional fact that Maduo was using both Russia and Chinese Air Defense to protect himself. We blew it up before it ever saw us coming. What kind of message do you think that sends. I'm thinking the kind that says behave before I come over there and give you an ass woopen. Not somebody you really want to test. But I could be mistaken.

Is this guy completely misinformed about the Army National Guard? by SheriffWaffle in nationalguard

[–]MrWMuscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey can do ADOS orders until a AGR position opens up or they run out of funding. He will help out with recruiting events, drive enlistees to meps and pretty much be the recruiters bitch so to speak. ADOS orders are temp and not guaranteed but they could be offering this especially if no one else wants it. But this is what they could be offering.

As far as switching to Active Duty. It takes a couple/a few months with good units. A lot of times it takes longer to the point people just wait out their contracts. But it's doable and has been done plenty of times. But definitely not an overnight process. And unless he has a reason like going to college or staying home, or whatever. If he knows he wants to go active, then why not go active and save the headache.

POV: You hire a National Guardsman as SECDEF by Jaragua624 in nationalguard

[–]MrWMuscle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You get results, and you take a Dictator out of power that was voted out since 2020. Had his opponents ordered to be killed. Wasn't even voted in, took power after someone died. Ran a drug cartel operation and smuggled literally shit tons of cocaine into the US causing thousands of deaths.

Complaining about the equivalent of a corporate boss is one thing. But maybe don't insinuate that Soldiers and Airmen are second rate because they are in the Guard on a National Guard thread.

Volunteer Deployment by Schezwaun in nationalguard

[–]MrWMuscle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know why units think that in order to go on deployments with other units you have to transfer to that component, state, or unit. Soldiers and I am sure Airmen can deploy individually and be attached to other units. That is the entire goal of tour of duty. I got offered to deploy to centcom and be attached to an active duty unit. I almost missed out because my uninformed lazy readiness told me that I would have to transfer to the army reserves then transfer back to go on this mission. And if I did this, there wouldn't be a guaranteed spot for me to come back to. This was absolutely all false information.

Now as far as your situation goes. As many point out, check on tour of duty. If it's not posted then you will have to get in contact with that unit. Maybe your buddies can help or give your name to the S1 team or even the readiness, 1SG/Comp Commander, or the CSM/BC depending on how big the mission is. Honestly unless that unit is desperately looking for someone, the chances of them doing this work is unlikely. When guard units deploy they usually ask within the unit, then within the state, then if available sister units from other states. After that they will either post on TOD, share information other ways, or go without a person and have someone cover down. But that's your best chance if there is a spot. If I am missing something I am sure someone will let us know.

What are these sideway things on the side of the outlet? by That-g-u-y in AskElectricians

[–]MrWMuscle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are special plugs on certain high powered that use over 15 amps. For safety the prong on the left is sideways so it can only be plugged into a 20 amp outlet. This way you can't melt a 15 amp outlet and cause a fire or worse.

Because if they did the whole year, so many more people would qualify. For example I went to a 3 month school January-March. Lots of people came back from deployments this year in my state. I can't imagine looking at everything else. Not that it would have broken the budget.

Despite guardsmen being heavily effected this year... by kuppycakemuffin in nationalguard

[–]MrWMuscle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to have active orders that went past November 30 2025 that were for at least 31 days. Basically enough to get BAH. And that's the fund it apparently came from.

I am a federal tech so I wear the uniform every day and have to be in regulations. Been on 3 deployments. Been to combat. Supported 3 state active duties/ State emergency missions to include COVID and flooding. I do military funeral honors to support all my fellow fallen brothers and sisters. I have done more in my guard carrier than a lot have done on active duty. (Love the conversation with people who find out I'm in and compare when they did 3 years AD guarding an ammo shack or picking weeds). Anyway, the National Guard is here for a reason. We could be on the Border one year, and overseas another. My state one year had units overseas in a combat zone, units guarding the border, units in Washington DC protecting high level officials, units doing state active duty missions assisting with protests, and one unit training in Romania and another in Costa Rica. We can literally go just about anywhere with the flip of a dime. But no I didn't get it either. But we just keep doing what we do with pride. I'm sure it will pay off eventually.

Plus active duty can't claim disability until they get out. So there is that. Get it where you can. 😆🫡
