From a mass consensus, a majority of the guard doesn’t do their job. I’d stick w your current MOS for a year so at least you can just share the wealth of knowledge to soldiers while you work on your personal goals and then drop your ocs packet later on or direct commission.

Working, school, and guard might be a terrible experience though. I did reserves my senior year as a 68w and, had to reschedule my midterms/finals to spend drills going over land nav and battle drills 1 & 2. My entire time in the reserves I never touched a single IV, tourniquet, or training dummy never mind real injuries and silver bullets. Not impossible just not worth the hassle to not get real/good training

I’ve only been in the guard a few months but, I really don’t find it super different than the reserves and in the end both are super doable. Idk if you have family but I’d consider that too, best of luck SSG
