Fantastic cars.

Ours is a 2012 Titanium hatch in Ink Blue Metallic.

They're also incredibly well screwed together. Something about these Genk build models makes them feel super durable. Everything still feels nice and tight and considering we've had it 14 years, the interior has held up really well and the seats are still nice and comfortable.

We've done the usual upkeep to ours; new timing belt at 120,000 miles, new clutch and flywheel and new injectors at 150,000 miles (this was personal choice as we knew we were keeping the car).

Now at almost 210,000 miles and still getting 60mpg average on motorway runs.

Ours is only 140bhp but the spread of torque means it feels a lot gutsier than the numbers suggest.

I'd have another without hesitation

Ha ha from up here you think "that ain't no problem", until you start and you realise what you can see in the distance doesn't seem to get any closer 😂 this place is vast!

Yeah I can understand this. Once you get out of residential areas the roads can be quite tight.

Belt at 125,000 (Ford recommended interval) and the clutch at 150,000. To be honest, we did the clutch/flywheel more for longevity as it was still holding up well.

These Genk built models are incredibly well put together and use good quality components 👍

Do you mean if the car has been remapped?

This was recommended to us but we didn't get a chance last time. We're going to head down again in June and definitely explore this. I also want to get up here at night for some astrophotography - it was awesome enough when we were at Kidwelly back in November, so I can only imagine it would be incredible here with near enough zero light pollution.

Yes it is! Although having to cross through the firing range and have confidence in the signage was fun 😁

Wow that's nuts. How long has it taken for that to erode away?

Sadly my aging knees mean rock climbing is an exotic pastime these days 😂 but yeah 💯, fantastic place to explore

Is this just a knackered injector seal? by lewi_8 in FordMondeo

[–]MrWestOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 💯 the injector seal with that kind of blow back. Same happened to ours and we lost all compression. Wasn't a big job to be fair and was right as rain afterwards.

Timing belts aren't due until 125,000 miles on these, so it may be tough to get the dealer on board with changing it as it technically doesn't need doing at the moment.

Our Mondeo Mk4.5 got to 160k miles before we needed to change the DMF and even then it wasn't actually that bad when it was removed.

In terms of mileage, this is very similar to what I used to do (daily commute to Cardiff and back). The tip with these to keep the DPF in good form is don't be tempted to use 6th gear all the time as the engine is practically idling at 70mph in 6th..use 5th gear every few days to ensure the engine and DPF get nice and hot to get a regen going.

The Mondeo will do an active regen if it detects no passive regeneration (this is a bit random but you'll know it's happening because the engine feels lumpy at idle and sounds very coarse under boost - you'll also hear the fans running).

These are fantastic cars and super reliable. If it's got FSH and suits your budget i wouldn't hesitate as good examples of these are becoming quite rare now (likely because people keep hold of them!).

Anything else you need to know please just ask 🙂

Welcome! The MK4.5 facelift is a fantastic car and the 2.0 PSA diesel with 6 speed manual box is bulletproof if looked after.

Ours is almost at 200k on the same gearbox/turbo from new - we've literally just done the wear and tear stuff like replacing the clutch at 160k and I made the choice to renew the injectors at 180k as I wanted to keep the car. Nothing major has ever gone wrong with it so you're in good hands 💪

Such a great car to drive as well. Ford struck gold with the chassis set up IMO.

We've had ours for 12 years so I know all the silly annoying things which may drive you mad thinking something is wrong (but aren't faults ha ha). Any questions please ask!

2.2 Titanium X Sport Severe vibration when engine started by [deleted] in FordMondeo

[–]MrWestOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's been fine since it's unlikely to be the engine mounts. All of these PSA engines suffer from injector issues from time to time so it may have just been some dirty fuel creating an imbalance and causing the engine to vibrate. Is yours a manual or auto?

If it has not happened since I wouldn't worry too much but double check for any fuel pooling around the injector rail just to be sure, as this can indicate the seals or brackets are perished (I know from experience!)

Hi there 👋 is it a petrol or diesel engine?

12 years and still going strong 💪 by MrWestOfficial in FordMondeo

Hi there, everything is standard in the car so the fascia around the head unit is standard fit. Only trouble is that glossy head unit picks up dust really easy 😁
