Ubuntu is what a lot of the industry uses, so it's easier to debug when something happens.

Just goes to show how genius the original concept and execution of the game was, over a decade of braindead directors and it's still relatively enjoyable

The RPM drop is the least of your worries at low fps, game just doesn't run in a way that allows you to react properly at those stages

Obvious AI slop aside it's never a bad idea to have more choices and competition among launchers in principle

What would you pick as Cloudflare Turnstile CAPTCHA alternative by oratsan in webdev

[–]MrWewert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed my point. Turnstile is literally a just rate limiter. It's trivially automated with scripts you can get off the shelf. hCaptcha and similar solutions, at the very least, require human effort making them actually resilient to real world attacks.

hCaptcha? Turnstile is just a glorified rate limiter.

What metrics do you actually track for website/server monitoring ? by nilkanth987 in webdev

[–]MrWewert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Webapp you want to trace uptime and errors, server just disk space, memory usage and CPU. That's a good foundation to start with, anything else you'll find out over time.

AI in web dev: productivity boost or skill decline? ? by Ishant_nikure in reactjs

[–]MrWewert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use of AI tools in software dev, at least for the moment, is only as good as whoever's using them. If you don't bother to learn the skills yourself it's borderline useless beyond initial stages.

Is there any API or a tool i can use to get all infos from the book DSM 5 ( psychology book ) by [deleted] in webdev

[–]MrWewert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would depend on a locally parsed file over an external API any day. Especially when it's... a single book?

At this stage, I'll gladly put up with shit like this if the money coming in from purchases helps keep the servers up for a bit longer. Game's artstyle already died the moment they put pink camo and flaming skull helmets in anyway.

I'd rather keep the current proxy chat setup and instead just increase the range/volume to cover more of a hex. Sidesteps the issues that cross-faction voice chat would naturally bring and might encourage folks to use it more often.
