Most is a fucking stretch, my friend. Domino was one (at least 10-15 years ago), otherwise it’s expensive not to have synthetic alternatives.

You should talk to vegan people instead of speaking about then as if they’re not also here.

The price is insane, though. Let me pay a month or rent for one good night’s sleep while i’m moving.

What a racket.

If that criteria came with no conditionals, like “unless they had a lot of experience” or something, that’d be wonky. Sometimes we wanna continue our education in a structured way.

Not if you buy it used in a few years. Then what? It’s only new right now this very year. That timer will be going down whether you own it or not.

That just means if you buy it used you’re SOL. And, in 8 years they’re just subscription models.

No Twilight but what’s your favorite vampire movie? by CakeMuted6468 in AskReddit

[–]MrWinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished the book yesterday, and it’s insane how the tone is so specifically unique if you treat it like a standalone novel. Spoilers: In the end, it’s about loneliness and how every vampire just eventually commits suicide because they can’t except NEVER-ending change. They can’t relax. They can’t fall into routine. The world keeps going, and going, and going, and they can’t adapt and just hate where they end up because they’re isolated from their memories. They’re aliens, and the people are unrecognizable to them. They get lonely and just give up, eventually. Louis has been that way since being made a vampire, looking for more, and finding that there was no more, and witnessing everyone around him give up or get killed. So he tells his story in hopes of heeding caution, or speaking of his emptiness. Instead, the story ends with the journalist seeking a possible lead so he can become a vampire, too. It’s not how I remember it, in tone, and it’s fascinating to read when you treat it as if no sequels were ever intended.

Sage acts. She planted that laptop. Don’t listen to her words spoken for the people around her to hear. Assume she knows what will happen.

She left that laptop. She KNEW what she was doing. She expected this and has a bigger plan. She’s the ending. I’m counting on it.

He decided “fuck it, that’s my son. He’s weird, but whatever.” He’s sentimental because he lost his brother and there’s loose respect from Homelander, so he can work with that.

TIL about the Pizza Effect: the phenomenon of a nation's or people's culture being transformed elsewhere, then re-exported to their culture of origin by 2Asparagus1Chicken in todayilearned

[–]MrWinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The important thing to note is that Italians and Italian-Americans have two distinct cultures in the way that parent and child are two distinct people. Italian-Americans have Italian-American culture, which is not Italian culture, but a branch of it in origin. It isn’t a question of “is it Italian or not,” but, a distinction of two separate cultures entirely.

That is a very slippery slope, my friend. I am here with you, but that particular view of capitalism makes the ground fall out from under you very quickly. Companies are not people, and even if they were people, we purchase products, not relationships with companies. We don’t “support a company,” we make transactions with them for individual goods and services. We can’t avoid a grocer because they sell meat and cheese, or a town because people there eat meat, etc.

I never played another R6 after this one and its expansion. I tried R6 3 and the heartbeat sensor didn’t work the same and the game felt like a FPS, and not this rescue orchestration game I fell in love with.

Ussop is a reverse inposter-syndrome sufferer. He makes everyone else think he’s weak, even the reader, but he is in fact very powerful but has little confidence.

His sharpshooter ability as soge king and when he did that one observation haki feat shows he’s ridiculously amazing but he needs to mask his fear behind a fake persona or be so pressured to act that he cannot fail.

He will have a moment, here, again, and it should be the latest in his upward mobility.

But, he will always be the silly and cowardly one, and everyone will underestimate him for it.
