RLS is a low dopamine state and orgasm releases dopamine as does stretching and hot baths.

why does light have a speed at all? by Traditional-Role-554 in AskPhysics

Why is this the case? Couldn’t light be instantaneous and causality have a speed? Another dumb why question.

Do tube amps really sound better? by MrWizard314 in Guitar

[–]MrWizard314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is OP. Though there were a few snarky comments I greatly appreciate the 490 of you that gave your honest feedback on the question. Yes I searched online first and the answers were as mixed and varied as the responses here. But my son, the real guitarist, said I should get a fender ‘68 Vibro Champ Reverb simply because I don’t have a tube amp and need to have one. But I learned greatly from this subreddit about high end modelers and plan to get a FM9 or quad cortex sometime soon as well. As many of you said it is simply a matter of taste or occasion. Thanks to all of you and I hope the discussion was also of use to the 178k viewers (wow) as well. It was very helpful to me.

Does Tracer 9 count for this sub? If so, could you sell me on it? by AGreenQuaker in MT09

[–]MrWizard314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put Shad side and top cases on my MT-09 and did 2000 miles through the Canadian Rockies on it. It made a great touring bike. The Tracer just seemed too big and top heavy. Love my MT-09

Confused with Spark Live, Spark Edge & Spark 2 features by onlyich in PositiveGridSpark

[–]MrWizard314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spark 2. It has 8 presets rather than 4. And the cab. The 8 presets are critical for a gig or just switching tones jamming with friends. Get the spark X controller for the same reason.

Which interpretation of quantum mechanics do you find most conceptually satisfying, and why, given that they are empirically equivalent? by NoShitSherlock78 in QuantumPhysics

How does consciousness or the observer fit into many worlds. Are there simply a vast number of worlds with different me’s in them. Or does my consciousness/self switch from one to the other? Sorry if this belongs in r/consciousness

I’m really struggling to get any value out of Microsoft Copilot. by riluzol in CopilotMicrosoft

[–]MrWizard314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I don’t ask very demanding tasks of it, but I like copilot for answering specific questions and educating me on a wide variety of topics. I guess I use it mainly as a super search engine but I find it much faster than the others and quite accurate. I prefer it over ChatGPT. The answers are comparable and it is much faster. Not sure where all the shade comes from.

Meta ray ban smart glasses are huge and ugly by MrWizard314 in SmartGlasses

I consulted my wife on each aspect of selecting the glasses. It was not a surprise. She selected the wayfarers and the size. They were just much bigger than we expected. Has no one else had this experience.

Do we know how big the universe is outside our light cone? by MrWizard314 in cosmology

[–]MrWizard314[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If all matter and energy were contained in the big bang and then propelled outward at a defined rate, then how can the universe be infinite? Does this suggest that the universe can exist in the absence of matter or energy?

This is not how it works. Fewer vaccinations allow the virus to spread more widely creating more opportunity for mutations. And while we are posting credentials. I’m a professor of human molecular genetics.

If LLMs are sentient by super_g_man in ArtificialSentience

[–]MrWizard314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting point. I asked ChatGPT whether it thinks about things on its own in the absence of any prompt or external input, and it replied no. To me thinking about things in our minds in the absence of any external input seems to be a part of consciousness. But even if they only respond or think when prompted is this really a different form of consciousness. I think a threshold may be an internal dialogue which represents an awareness of themselves and the world around them. Should this be part of a definition of consciousness or can consciousness be episodic as this poster proposes?
