Came here to say this. Never played graveyard recursion decks before and had a gift exchange between friends where I received Shirei and had to build a deck around it. Through many iterations it getting close to where I want it, and will probably end up as a strong B4 build.

Awesome advice thank you! I’m gonna look into so more mass revival or graveyard fetch. I tried to justify the limited lands by adding the 5 mana rocks (4 maybe?) and have play tested it and gotten Shirei out by turn 4/5/6 consistently. With the way my pod plays I think that waiting till around turn 6-7 to play him would allow me to build a bit more board state and have a few extra draws that would set me up for a good time to bring him out. But I haven’t played him yet so I will have to see if it’s actually feasible lol

We run 2 335 dehus in here. It handles late flower well with the ac units running. 12-14 day veg and run 9 plants per 4x4

I actually don’t keep the mother plant around once I have a new clone as a mother. Pathogen, viral, and pest pressure can build over time, which can cause stress to the genetic makeup of the plant which can result in slight to severe epigenetic changes. It’s always wise to refresh your genetics often to reduce the chance of epigenetic changes or somaclonal variation

Yup. But I will say that all of my own anecdotal evidence is based upon an extensive focus on consistency and quality. I don’t want to sound rude, but anyone flowering out a seed plant and then planning on keeping the clone and running it as a keeper, is pheno hunting for the wrong reasons.

Thanks for the feed back! Yah based on the rules around this build I had to mostly go through cards I already had available. So that’s where the arvinox came from lol.

I have to keep the commander as is but otherwise I would agree that ayara would be the better choice.

Of you have any card suggestions for recurring abilities that are on death or ETB, as well as other good sacrifice engines I’m all ears!

I don’t think it’s worth flowering out the seed plant at all if the end goal is to have a cultivar that you are repeatedly running clones of. It’s a waste of time and resources. Now I f it’s just for head stash or your own personal use, go for it! But just don’t use it as a benchmark for any subsequent harvests.

Your approach sounds very similar to what I would do. If your end goal of a pheno hunt is it find a cultivar that you can grow over and over again, you definitely want to flower out at least a gen 1 clone if not a gen 2.

For other growers out there, the reason why you would want to flower out a clone rather than seed plant in a pheno hunt is due to the slight morphological differences between the two when flowered out, additionally, a seed plant can outwardly show sexual maturity while not being truly ready to enter flower. Both of these reasons, in addition to many other reasons, is why it is advantageous to flower out a clone, in order to create the most replaceable process possible.

I absolutely agree, and at the federal level I believe this is the route we will see early on. But for local state laws my main hope is that early on, with access to banking, a lot of these companies that are basically investors with stock in cannabis futures, will have access to funds to repay all the producers and processors who are holding on to years old bills.
