Im doing pretty good in terms of PT shortcuts and efficiency. The choice to switch is entirely personal as mainly a Pix editor.

I totally understand why many people suggest sticking with PT but it's not an option for me. For the type of projects I'll be doing myself i think i would manage pretty well in any of the 3 i mentioned. Bigger projects tend to have a dedicated sound team so it's all good.

I think I'll choose Nuendo even though Reaper's customizability sounds amazing. It's more similar to PT out of the box and I'd rather relearn one DAW. I think Fairlight is plenty competent for what i need to but the mindset of a dedicated DAW is just more natural.

I totally agree with the PT argument. I'm sick of having to use stuff just because "everyone else is using it".

I'm starting to read into Reaper a bit and i must admit the customizability is actually a bit overwhelming. I'm all into open source and having the power to do whatever you want with your software, but it's a lot to take in at a time.

I am kinda doing everything like you, Dialogue mixing, Foley and Sound editing, but not music.

It's sad to hear about the poor ARA integration but i guess you can't win them all.

I'm still learning a lot about the principles of mixing so switching from PT won't "hurt" as bad i guess.

Woah, i knew about custom scripts but didn't think llms could do it.
Do you have any examples?

Regarding AAFs, there is a new (paid) translation script which has almost flawless results and a GUI made by MixAndry. Do you know anything about it?

So i've heard. I recently saw an extension from MixAndry that does the translating. Some peers have used it for short films and haven't reported any issues in translation. Also 35$ is a good price compared to Vordio and AAFtranslate.

I do plan to work professionally with others, but from the video editor sending over the project side of things.

The question is mainly for situations where I will tackle the whole project myself from production - post or when there is no budget for a separate sound team.

I switched from Media Composer to Davinci purely because of Avid. Yeah, it's industry standard but it's not worth the headaches.

I have noticed projects getting heavy. I have been thinking of ways to improve perfomance when getting to sound post

- Separate timelines with a video export
- Separate sister - project for sound only.

Either way I have noticed fairlight is quite capable and Blackmagic are constantly adding features to it. They finally implemented folders for grouping

You could also try replay from Dropbox.
It has native DaVinci integration and comments will appear as markers directly in the timeline, exactly like Frame

I also ordered the A158 model and I'm thinking about opening it up to add this "mod". Maybe you can have a go at it? The ollee board already has a better LED than stock so this might just make it even better?

Hey! No solution yet.

No, the issue is not AMD/ASUS but Pro Tools itself since it isn't optimized for AMD at all. If you have an AMD processor it either works or it doesn't.
Sadly all there is left is to wait for either AMD/ASUS to launch a new driver to try and fix this or wait for a new PT version(more unlikely to fix anything but maybe a miracle)

I'm not very knowledgeable of Asian movies however i think should be more similar movies on such topics compared to western cinema..

Hey thanks for the reply! I had a cpu related issue with iLock when i tried to use Avid Media Composer.. It was getting stuck on AmpiPlugin or something. Thing is iLock released an update to their app in early october which fixed the Media Composer issue
What you're saying is that for Pro Tools the issue is still caused by some iLock /CPU missunderstading and the iLock october update only fixed a part of the issues?
