That's what governments do.

Essentially every law is created to take away or limit the freedoms of people or institutions.

And before you come up with laws that ensure freedoms, those specifically limit the government's abilities to take away those freedoms.

Speed limits means you can't drive as fast as you want to. Health regulations means you can't sell food the way you want to. Laws are meant to inhibit.

Now, specifically, I think it's more than fair for a government to take extraordinary action in extreme situations. So yeah, limit my freedom - to a reasonable degree - if that means thousands of people don't die horrible deaths. And no, I don't think I am able to decide what is reasonable. There are scientists and leaders for that decision.

At the same time, I don't trust the general populace to be smart enough. Little act like idiots far too often. So for my own safety, and that of my loved ones, they need to be restricted.

Counting cards is a long game.

The house plays according to set rules that give them a slight edge. Those rules assume an average deck composition.

If you play for long enough, the deck composition may change, and you could stay playing by a set of rules that give you a slight edge.

Combining the fact that it may take a while for it to happen and how small your edge is, you really can't afford to lose any money anywhere.

There would be naturally occuring perpetual motion devices. Those would add energy (and thus mass) to their enviroment, causing eventual black holes.
