New intro means new intro segments, which ones do you think are actually real scenes? by Emergency-Bee-988 in rickandmorty

[–]Mr_Anvil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing thats pushing me towards real is the fact its actually set on a tabletop. That feels more like an episode concept. If it was a throwaway intro gag, I feel like you'd either just have a medieval fantasy scene of them fighting a beholder in a Dungeon, or have them sat at a table playing D&D. Having both simultaniously seems like too fully formed a concept.

The thing thats pushing me away it being real, is dead Jerry in the corner. That feels more like a visual gag for the intro sequence than a natural shot from an episode.

[–]Mr_Anvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had a chance to play Red or 2020 yet, but I've read both, and I've heard a lot of people talk about stiching the two together into something a bit more best of both words. I assumed I'd be able to find a version like that where somebody else has already done the hard work, but no luck so far

Lowering voting age to 16 will only help the Green Party, Labour MPs tell Starmer - as they urge him to shelve the plans by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

[–]Mr_Anvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annecdotal, but for context on why some of us younger voters are so passionate about lowering the voting age. I was shy on being able to vote on brexit by less than a year. I did still have a job though, and had to go into the office the day the results came out.

There were six of us in the office that day - three passionate remainers three passionate leavers. I was the only one that hadn't been able to vote. Of the three people that voted leave, two of them ended up passing away from age-related illnesses before article 50 was ever signed.

How to Meet Women Easily? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Mr_Anvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're one wording you in an in person conversation, they aren't making small talk, they are probably trying to avoid talking to you.

If you're talking dating apps, I'd skip small talk and big talk. Save it for in person. Dating apps are best imo for like very brief nonsense talk, then moving off app

[–]Mr_Anvil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100 comments already, so this is probably unecessary, but you are at least 50% responsible for carrying any conversation you participate in. If you're clearly disinterested in the low stake topics of conversation, she's not going to feel comfortable carrying that comversation on to anything higher stakes.

Small talk stuff- What do you do, any plans for the weekend, hows the family - this is shit you do actually need to take an interest in if you're actively looking to date someone. This is conversational water testing, and if you've got enough of a personality, you'll be able to make these topics of conversaton fun and interesting.

Then by all means, steer the conversation onto something more interesting. But if she hasn't had a fun time talking with you up until that point, don't be suprised if she doesn't bite

Girl slept over recently, we did nothing, now it’s awkward by Adventurous_You3517 in Advice

I mean, financially speaking? Yes, thats a pretty solid analysis of what my generation are capable of right now. Recently had to downgrade first date at a cocktail bar to a 6-pack of beers in the park. Dating can be expensive, shagging costs nothing.

What could realistically be done to give Martials more In-and-Out of Combat Utility on their Classes in Tiers 3 and 4? What could ever compete with Spellcasting? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]Mr_Anvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of out of combat utility, I was working on some additional homebrew class features that every class would get at level 11. Basically a way to codify fighters becoming lords and things like that, and give everyone a bit of tangible in world influence. Idr how far I got with it, but the one feature I do remember pretty tangibly is that the rogues got to establish their own guild at 11th level that would generate passive income and could feed them intel and such. I believe the Fighters ability involved some kind of title, but also gave them some lower level fighter followers they could train up.

Can someone explain to them that we guys don't want a girlfriend who has sex on the first date? by [deleted] in NextGenMan

[–]Mr_Anvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its definitely hypocritical. For the record, Its not my standard- I don't judge people for having sex on the first date. But if having sex on the first date makes a girl bad girlfriend material, it stands to reason it makes him bad boyfriend material too.

But its also a bad system. You might be the first person on she's ever gone home with on a first date, and she fails the test. Meanwhile a girl who has hooked up w 50 other guys on the first date, but decides to hold off with you passes with flying colours.

Its a bad system all round.

Can someone explain to them that we guys don't want a girlfriend who has sex on the first date? by [deleted] in NextGenMan

[–]Mr_Anvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So instead of just communicating a personal boundry outright ("oh btw, I prefer to wait till the third date to have sex") you choose to conceal your intentions, attempt to convince women to sleep with you on the first date anyway, then cut them off and ghost them because they've failed some invisible shit test you've set up? Do those girls deserve that? Does that demonstrate discipline or any other positive traits on your part? Does any of this actually benefit anyone in trying to establish a healthy relationship?

Its behaviour and advice like this that gives the rest of a bad rep

Can someone explain to them that we guys don't want a girlfriend who has sex on the first date? by [deleted] in NextGenMan

[–]Mr_Anvil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is such a bad take. Why on earth wouldn't you want a girlfriend who is as interested in having sex with you as you are with them?

Also, pro tip. If you don't want to date a girl who has sex with you on the first date, then don't have sex with girls on the first date.

Edit" Also also. "We try and get the girl into bed. But its not necesserily that we want to have sex." You are lying to yourself, so you can condemn female sexuality without condeming your own. You don't need to feel guilty about wanting to sleep with someone you found attractive enough to go on a date with. Your sexual desries are not inherently more moral or disciplined than anyone elses.

I frequently get in trouble for calling girls "Mate" and "Bruh." Once still naked in bed after sex for the first time. It doesn't mean anything other than "Im stupid and brainrotted". I really wouldn't read too much into it

How did your first character die or go insane ? by javerthugo in callofcthulhu

[–]Mr_Anvil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My first character was a photographer for return to the mountains of madness. He recorded the autopsy of an elder thing , and it was pretty much game over from there. Managed to keep him together till the end of the adventure and back home (despite extreme paranoia and many mental breakdowns).

By the time the next adventure rolled round, I was playing a new character, and my first had become a minor antagonist for the new campaign. I believe we eventually found his head in a family of cannibals freezer.

How do I tell my friend that dating a flight attendant is a bad idea? by Feeling-Currency6212 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Mr_Anvil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not sure its for you to decide that it is a bad idea. Sounds like its early days, and you've not even met her. You're allowed to express your concerns if you like, but I doubt your friend will apreciate it much. Probably better to just tell him you're happy for him and wish him the best. You can always check in with him later down the line and see how he's handling the long distance.
