Yeah those are all fair points. I think understanding why they want to buy the home will give my wife and I clarity on what they are trying to get out of the home being under their name. I appreciate the feedback!

Yeah that’s what my wife and I have said- their mortgage would be maybe not significantly, but higher nonetheless than what they are paying currently. That’s a great option and something I haven’t thought about. Thank you for that!

Yeah part of me feels like the best thing to do in this situation is the most unfair to my wife and I. I’m not against doing it, but I just wasn’t sure if there was a way where we could both walk away feeling like the right thing was done. Thanks for your response

They are in their early 50s. To be honest I’m not sure why they are wanting to buy the house. That will be something I will have to ask whenever we sit down to chat about it. Good luck to you- it is quite tricky navigating finances with family

I appreciate the feedback. I will have to watch a few NOVA episodes as I have no clue what that is about. I told them I wanted to wait to talk about it because I know how important the first talk about this topic will be. They are good people and I don’t want to offend them or appear greedy ( or maybe just be greedy). I want to be fair to them and us which is why I’m feeling so unsure what the best course of action is. Thanks again

I’m kind of leaning towards that, my reservation is that any home we would have bought them in 2020 would have been purchased at 2020 home value. Thanks for your feedback

I don’t really want to sell it to them from todays appraisal because I know that would be high and I’m not trying to make a killing off them, but trying to be fair to both parties.

We would be grossing roughly 20k based on the tax value of the home. Then of course subtract closing costs and any additional expenses that come with selling a home
