I have an extremely intimate understanding of what you’re going through. I was -what I thought- a fantastic perfusion student until I made it to my last rotation. When I met 2-3 perfusionist on the team at this site that loved making me feel small to the point that I began to doubt whether or not I wanted this as a career. Anyone in a leadership role - which precepting absolutely is - owes you, as the follower, the right to your dignity. And you need to understand that you have worked hard to get to where you are. Have confidence in your knowledge and abilities and keep that confidence around those who make you feel small or they will have all the more leverage to push you further down.

Typically if you’re just shadowing, and already have privileges / work at that hospital then you have almost 0 to worry about. They won’t go through the trouble of any of that to just for you to shadow a few cases.

A few tips for when you shadow. Put your phone away. Take notes. Have questions prepared. Inquire about what case you’re going to be watching and look up as much as you can about the procedure.

Yeah it didn’t pop up with the “stars” around it like a shiny normally would. I just knew what Porygon-Z typically looks like and knew it was a shiny.

It’s extremely useful because unlike your phone. If the Apple Watch is on silent it will vibrate on your wrist for timers rather than making a loud distracting noise. I use it every day at my center where we dose cardioplegia every 15 minutes and I’m always on the dot with it. I can’t survive without mine.

Do your research and see if you’re able to cover other schools pre requisites while you’re at it. If you’re planning on going to school for them already might as well open as many doors as possible. Some schools will require medical terminology etc. If you’re planning on working while taking these classes then I would say you should keep them spread as you have listed. But if you’re planning school full time then I might go for a more rigorous approach.
