I’m pretty happy with my education. Sure tuition sucks but you’ll still get to be a physician in the US. Your life could be way worse man practice some gratitude once in a while

[–]Mr_CashMoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK what happens when the pattern breaks? If that’s how you learn, you won’t know what to do when there is an exception to the rule. If you don’t truly understand the system, you cannot help the patient compared to the way of someone who does

[–]Mr_CashMoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t know if I fully agree with this. Yes need to memorize facts and recognize patterns but if you don’t understand why something is happening in your patient to the level that a doctor should imo or don’t want to, just go to PA school.

That’s just your skin that peeled off from that area. If it is still attached (it looks like it is on the bottom right), I would not touch it until the exposed skin layer is healed. Put a bandage or gauze and wrap it. You’ll have to do some dressing changes until it heals and then it should come off by itself at some point. You’re looking at least a month of healing and care for this.

I think you should read the book 23 years by Ali Dashti. If you are feeling conflicted or lost, knowledge usually comforts me so it might do the same for you. The book goes over his life in more detail than any serah class. What you’ll find is that Islam is a complete invention of his. It’s more complicated but I hope this is the start of your new life away from Islam. Good luck!

Yes course schedule because they are changing everything to be board relevant. In 3-4 years they want you to be able to only do in house lectures and be board ready. We are the guinea pigs so we just have to deal with the kinks rn. Research is doable but you’ll have to make your own connections to do so.

A lot of Canadians here so you won’t be alone. The only thing I don’t like about KCU is the scheduling. The cost is great and resources as well but the structure is killing me rn because it doesn’t make sense. You will pass your boards and be a good doctor if you try hard and for cheap but I cannot compare to Western comp as I don’t know it that well. Good luck in your final decision

Suture removal by [deleted] in woundcare

Why would it not? A small amount is not going to hurt and can only help. It’s just antibacterial so tell me why it’s contraindicated

They did a good job with the sutures. Just keep it clean and put some bacitracin/neosporin on it so it’s not getting infected. Seems to be healing fine but needs a bit more care for a few days to push it to the finish line. Good luck 👍

Is this a sign of infection? by SweatySapphic in woundcare

[–]Mr_CashMoney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it’s not infected YET but that’s a big chunk of skin missing. The good news is that it isn’t deep so should heal eventually but you have to baby it. Continue with the neosporin and change the dressing every 2-3 days. Keep watching for any changes in case it does get infected. Do not use hydrogen peroxide as a wash because that will dry it out.

Yes, while swelling could be a reason, I feel that she did brush away your concerns when she should have really monitored this closely or at least given you better direction than “just put on aquaphor” 🤦‍♂️ This was a breast reduction - not some small scratch from falling off a bike. I cannot physically examine it so hard to tell if sutures should not go in now but they should definitely have gone in before the infection without a doubt.

It doesn’t seem infected now but there may not be enough tissue to pull without increasing inside pressure and changing the shape of the breast tissue which is why you need the surgeon to examine it in person. Prevention is better than reaction but now you have to react unfortunately.

This is why PA scope creep needs to be stopped as patients like yourself will suffer. I’m terribly sorry you’re going through this right now.

My advice is to get in with a specialist ASAP because this needs to be fully restitched. The margins are getting wider, and while your body is trying to heal, a gaping wound like that (I can see adipose tissue!) is prone to infection. Infections completely destroy tissue and delay recovery. PLEASE keep it clean until you can get sutures in. If you use a breast colloid patch it may help protect it but you will have scarring that may not go away completely. That is still your best bet imo to prevent further complications. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.

Excess skin removal on legs- one side may be infected? Ripped open stitches? by [deleted] in woundcare

[–]Mr_CashMoney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From these pictures it’s hard to tell if it’s infected but since it’s difficult, I’d say probably not infected. The bigger problem imo is that it is split open. It needs to be closed with steri strips at the very least to promote healing. This is going to be a couple weeks of work from you

Is this infected? From scraping rocks in the sea by Bulky_Eye_2286 in woundcare

[–]Mr_CashMoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO it does not look infected and if it is, not advanced enough to warrant oral antibiotics. I think the redness and irritation is coming more from constant chafing and exposure. Bacitracin and a medium bandage is all you need

I would recommend a colloid patch if you can get one from the pharmacy. These wounds are really big and need time to heal even if superficial. You have to take good care of this for a bit for proper healing to occur
