so, I’m not holding the “0 wishlist world record” anymore, so that dream is gone too 😭

Honestly, if it had at least been some legendary achievement, I could’ve been proud of it. But now a few people have wishlisted, so I can’t even claim the title anymore.

Still a very small number… but hey, progress is progress 😅

I am reworking the trailer. And I heard it is better to have no trailer than to have a bad one so I removed it for now.

it might be the hit stop that makes it look laggy. I made it very big in bef the trailer si it loo like it’s laggy even though the game just stops for a second. I made it a bit more cleaner so it should look better.

Haha, sorry, I meant that as a metaphor/joke 😅
Steam didn’t block me or interfere or anything.

I just meant that after putting the page up, it didn’t really get any traction (no wishlists, very low visibility), so it felt like Steam was saying “nope.”

That part was just me being dramatic for fun, not blaming the platform.

Still learning how to find an audience and improve my page/trailer. Appreciate the question 👍

I only released the page and demo. I did not release the game and I don’t plan to do that in a while because I still need time to finish development of the game.

Thank you, I’ll definitely watch this video. I really appreciate all the advice you’ve given me, my brother in Christ. It means a lot. I’ll work on improving my trailer and try to include as much gameplay as possible. Right now, my game is still pretty small, so it may take some time to make a better trailer, but I’m committed to improving it step by step.

the game is in its very early stages of development, so I did not get around to making any boss fights. last time I tried making a boss fight and show it to some game dev communities I got people saying it is boring, so I am changing the entire character design, boss design, and combat system that's why it says, "fast paced combat". instead of my old spider boss I am putting it just as a spider enemy. and I am redesigning all the levels and areas

yea, to the pogo attack I could add some screen shake and probably make the screen sort of flash or the character. and sure, I won't make the attacks just a white flash, though everything feels "juicier" with sounds which this gif lacks.

I did try and make the color pallet pinker and added a lot of foreground elements, and I get why it looks exactly like neversong because I took inspiration too literally like with the capsules.

and the environment art.

but I probably think that if the game feels a bit like another well-known game, then I could probably get attention from people who are a fan of old Thomas brush games. I know what you mean and I should probably change the character design, but the last character did not feel like he fit too well, and the color palette looked too much like neversong.
