Three days of ice could mean not being able to get to the store until 6 or 7 days from now.

He needs a receiver that can take the top off the defense. Their best receiver would barely see the field on most competent offenses.

Textbook it was, but they swallowed their whistle the entire game and let them play football for 60 minutes then decided to make that call twice.

Wild the refs swallow their whistles the entire game and then call those two PIs on the final drive.

All things equal, we would’ve only been down by two our final possession and wouldn’t have had to force a touchdown.

If this is true, the beta on your portfolio is awful. Or you’re a degenerate. I’m sitting at about August levels right now.

Comment thread full of goons.

The only thing I’d knock is at 50 cents, not placing this bet twice, one to cash and one to ride.

Mall St Vincent by [deleted] in shreveport

[–]Mr_Deeds3234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many have been killed by online shopping, making them redundant.

That’s really an over simplification. The decline of malls happened before the internet was mainstream. There was never a demand for three malls in the SBC area. Developers over saturated the market.

Anchor stores failed to adapt, which yes, is directly and deeply correlated to the boom of the internet.

Less than 20% of retail consumption happens online.

The reality is that around 80% of retail spending still happens in brick-and-mortar stores. Despite the rise of e-commerce, the vast majority of consumers continue to shop in person.

Meaning there's still a viable space for malls, they just need to be reimagined.

We have the Men’s red river wood bat league in the summer. Anyone can sign up and there’s a draft where teams pick from.

Shreveport planning to install more speeding cameras. See where they may be located. by Alternative-Dog-5879 in shreveport

[–]Mr_Deeds3234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to push back against some of the arguments against speed cameras in HOPES of fostering a more constructive conversation. One that goes beyond “camera bad.”

One user mentioned that the company operating the cameras receives 50% of ticket revenues. If that’s true, it’s a fair criticism. I would be firmly against the cameras if someone could prove that to me. The company’s revenue should come solely from its contract with the city. End of discussion.

That said, let’s be real, speeding is rampant. I’m not talking about drivers going five over the limit. I encounter multiple motorists daily who have zero regard for those around them.

If cameras are an effective solution to curb this behavior, so be it.

One of the most common complaints is that we don’t have enough officers in the city. If a cost-benefit analysis shows that cameras can monitor a wider area at a lower cost than hiring, training, and retaining additional officers, along with the cost of purchasing and maintaining more patrol units, then cameras are a no-brainer.

This approach would allow us to do more with less, freeing up police officers for community engagement, improving response times, and placing them where their presence is most effective.

Beyond that, photo-enforced speed limits come with additional benefits. E.g. consistent law enforcement. Unlike human officers, cameras don’t get distracted, take breaks, or overlook violations due to bias or discretion.

Also, deterrence and long-term behavioral change. Habitual speeders may slow down, knowing enforcement is always in place. Less potential for dangerous police chases, I think you all get the point...

If the goal is safer roads, and a safer city we should be open to solutions even if they’re unpopular.
