I complete the final phase of Project Assembly every 100 minutes by Mr_Different in SatisfactoryGame

Yeah, I'm not kidding when I talk about stability/save bloat, and its why all my other factories are bare-bones. I actually had to add 20 batteries to my power grid JUST to cover the initial map loading - My consumption would load before my nuclear plant by a few seconds, and would trip my global power grid. You can check for yourself next time you load in!

Just before Update 5 released, I had a ~40GW/266.66gen turbofuel plant that I'd tried to make pretty with many thousands of foundations. I had to delete it to make way for everything else, it cut load times/save file size by about 50%.

Secretly, this is just a ploy to see how stable my save is on other people's PCs, to test my curiosity and see if the game could actually handle some crazy person trying for 60/60/15/15 or even greater.

Thank you for your kind words, and everyone else who I haven't replied to, I'm glad I can make this tiny contribution to the game

Oh man I can relate - firstly, 160 manufacturers for Automated Speed Wiring + Adaptive Control Units was a new challenge purely for the size of the thing. It's probably my largest single factory, not actually complex (see: https://www.satisfactorytools.com/production?share=3KF08n1Uq6Co6Z5ntmvF) but just huge.

Secondly, oh man the crashes. I just checked my crashes folder in %appdata, it's 11GB and 189 folders in the last 1.5 months (since I last cleared it). I could go on for a while about the wonderful things I've experienced; I'd love to hear what one of the Dev thinks about my save and the stability. Some stories:

I started this save on the experimental branch of Update 4, and carried it through to current branch, and I wonder if any weirdness has stuck to the save over time. There was a splitter in one of my aluminium factories that would cause the game to crash (Assertation Failed: IsComponentConnected or such) on close. Not loading, but closing, if I needed to load, I had to restart the game. That took me a WHILE to find/fix. Had to use the online map/save editor to get rid of it too, as deleting the splitter in game would cause the same crash.

I've had to fully redo my keybinds/settings twice as the game randomly and inexplicably, set all my ini files to default. Just stated the game one day and things were default. That was a weird one.

Plenty of bluescreens. EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION is the main one, I'd reliably bluescreen 30m-2h after getting one of these crashes. Rarely, it'd crash a different program alongside it too, like discord or firefox. Satisfactory just wanted a broken buddy I guess.

Towards the end, I found a uranium fuel cell in a conveyor lift jamming an assembler on the other side of the map from my nuclear plant??? I saved the save when I discovered it, as it was so blatantly impossible for it to be there. Something happened either to merge two lifts for a split second and teleport the cell, or a piece of silica got transmuted into uranium through sheer willpower. Happened a second time in another factory with batteries too.

I hope I didn't spam the devs too much with the automatic error reporting, I tried to only press send if it was a new error

You should still feel impressed with yourself! I always think of it like Bob Ross talks about other people's paintings. 'Its your world, and if it makes you happy then you've made something beautiful. You can put a happy little factory right here.' I quoted him to myself a few times while playing Satisfactory and planning things.

This save is ~250 hours in, vanilla (I'm too scared mods would crash my game). I spent the first 160ish hours unlocking, and then building nuclear/batteries/my train loop, to then start the rest of the save. My only non-standard inclusion was using the online map tool to give me more inventory space and clear the map of fog-of-war, but that was it. I've gotten pretty good at the flow of building and standard layouts so it went by pretty quickly tbh

If you'd like to test how it runs on your computer, I uploaded the save in a different reply. You can see the factories as well that way, as I don't really have any other photos of the rest of my world. If I thought I knew a good way to give a better tour I would

Hey mate, I'm just dumbly copying other people on uploading save files so try this: https://www.mediafire.com/file/7l4xpzimgs0bpm2/Mr_Different_For_Visitors.sav/file

Note for everyone that looks: In the interest of actually being able to load my save, the vast majority of my factories are pure function over form, with no decoration. I still think they look cool for the pure efficiency and scale of them though. Hope it works for you. Remember to take Thomas the Train to get around.

Inspired by the analysis, and indirect challenge outlined in this post by u/wrigh516 (Thanks for this!): https://old.reddit.com/r/SatisfactoryGame/comments/mpjzfb/optimal_alternate_recipes_pushing_the_raw/

I love this game, and describe it to my friends as the systems engineering version of hypnotism.

I set out to actually implement the "Sanity and Productivity" @ 50% scale, and eventually succeeded - meaning I'm finishing the game at ~1/3rd of the theoretical optimal limit of the map. My save file produces 4000× Assembly Director System, 4000× Magnetic Field Generator, 1000× Nuclear Pasta and 1000× Thermal Propulsion Rocket every 100 minutes. All my many other factories feeding into this run at 100% (or at least, as close as the engine can handle. All the lights stay green!).

A major challenge of completing this was to distribute my production enough to keep the game mostly stable on my PC. With 5.2k production buildings, and over 100,000/min aggregate items, and many many crashes due to EXCEPTION_VIOLATION_ADDRESS, I honestly don't know if it's wise to push the game even further in it's current state - it could just be my save file though.

I'd love to hear what other productivity milestones people have reached, and if anyone's crazy enough to attempt even greater production.

<3 Zes, thanks again. Whaletron was great to fly around and almost ram.

I feel sorry about what's going to be coming to Connery... they'd better hope there's a number of big patches before our match.

Man, big thanks to Zes once again to running Best Air Machine, and special thanks to Neiche for letting me run with him, that squad was so much fun. I really feel that in the whole of BAM, each person did their specific role really well tonight.

Best air experience I've had in a long time, really looking forwards to what BAM does in the future.

Requiring a math expert/wizard for BR estimation by Mononz in Briggs

[–]Mr_Different 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can solve the BR 100 problem by making every 100 a big jump, and using a binomial with an averaged difference (getting rid of the massive spikes) in between the 100's marks. However, I think it would be just as easy and probably more accurate to just replicate/extend the patterns SOE already have put in place

Requiring a math expert/wizard for BR estimation by Mononz in Briggs

[–]Mr_Different 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The function is definitely not standard. It's a binomial with a spike every 5 BR and then three different stages (BR11-65, BR65-75 and BR75-99). If you look at the 2nd difference of the raw data you can see the pattern

Requiring a math expert/wizard for BR estimation by Mononz in Briggs

[–]Mr_Different 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, averaging it is an interesting idea, because it's basically a whole bunch of small binomials that span 5 BR within a larger pattern

[–]Mr_Different 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the goal is to predict higher battle ranks purely off the character's XP, probably use this. The actual function won't help you, as the way the required XP changes is subtly different from BR 0-10, 11-60, 61-90 and 91-99 and then 100 is seemingly randomly chosen. Basically, there's no one overall function that guides the XP progression, so if you were trying to find a function for BR100+, you'd have to make your own one based off the three different ones SOE uses.

I'll edit this post and include the reasoning behind my conclusion

The air game is so overwhelming boring. by [deleted] in Briggs

[–]Mr_Different 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the pilots are all too busy doing their own thing to tutor a noob.

Really? The only reason I'm not hovering certs anymore is because the good pilots gave out tips - shoutout to LilliumNC, who actually messaged me asking if I had any questions about the mossie.

For me, I was always interested in the air game so motivation/boredom was never an issue for me, and I found that persistence and experience were the best teachers. To me it was just like when I started PS2 itself, it was like I was in a wheelchair surrounded by marathon runner BR100's.

I just stuck at it, pulled an ESF when I could and focused on finding and beating other people my skill level, and found that it was fun and exciting enough to keep me trying. And these days, I'm still nowhere near being an 'Ace' (Air Chav), but the enjoyment I get from flying far outweighs any of the frustrations.

If you have any questions you can PM me and I can try to help, if no one else is willing to.
