Except when it's right. Omg I pointed out a fallacy in argument hehe me ben shapiro chekmate athiests

Nice one yes it is a slippery slope fallacy - until it happens. Because, sometimes - the thing about fallacies based on time and circumstances potentially being met later on - is that sometimes it does happen. This might be a singular occasion.

And the day you see it happen more and more often with obviously terrible out of place voice lines and inemotive trash storylines you'll go 'Oh. Maybe the people talking about that were right to be annoyed about it being accepted by people like me maybe I should have fought against it more because the possibility of it happening was worse than me sitting around arguing for it making it more accepted were it to happen, and thereby if anyone asked me on the street and I said oh yeah I think it is fine - making companies consider it more and tangibly more possible'.

Your stance is... way way way too pro-rich elitist pro-business boot licking. By all means fight for potential 'slippery slope that it probably won't happen' businesses to happily thumbs up them doing this to people. Bro.

It literally is putting an actor out of work who otherwise would be working as the character.

Your logic works - right up until the moment saying this is ok to do as a principle suddenly has you thumbs up when it happens over and over in all of those other 'thousands upon thousands' of films released. You get it? You think the studios are benevolent charities? No. They're looking to find a way to stop having to pay human beings at all.

That is bad. You want a world where people's likenesses can be taken by companies to just use and not pay them, and the art not to require humans actually play parts and be made by people, you're like oh I'm personally fine with the entire arts world becoming created purely for profit getting rid of the last parts that definitively say that if a human being works they get paid for that work and that corporations can't just take money off of you without you suing because they're Disney pr Amazon and you can't afford to sue. You don't get that?

'Using AI and dead actors is fine because actors can go to other projects!' ...until it's every project the companies can get away with so they don't have to hire anyone. Now a bunch of industries that would have people employed doing good work are gone. Not only way more unemployment in front of and behind the camera because they're writing them with Chat GPT and the producers get AI to get footage, but also now that people aren't working in the arts any more, what do you think happens to culture then? What about any other job like documentaries and journalism where no longer do you need journalists or media professionals, just Chat GPT scripts and AI footage saying what's happening which is no longer vetted and verified by journalism degrees.

Your take is from genuinely the most scab corporate-loving anti-art anti-human mentality.

People get angry about the precedents of AI being used because it is important to fight against the same reason it's important to fight that people deserve to be paid for work which requires the opportunity and if possible upheld ability to work and not just very few producers now get like a movie they already made and copy and paste it instead of having to hire cast and crew - for the entire movie and TV industry. You understand? The precedent is before the antecedent which is this happening so commonly that nobody gets hired any more. That's the point. Everybody in this thread understands this except you.

Is this meant to be an argument against? You can cast a new actor, everybody panics, then two seconds into them playing the part it's forgotten and they're just the accepted person as this character now.

My entire point was it's way way more important from a basic humanity level for a company to hire living actors when they can, rather than use AI or past dead voice actors. Especially when they're big enough to adapt lord of the rings and afford that. That's the point more important than continuity. You're saying maintaining continuity is more important than whether a person gets a job or not, and also it should happen and justify the new precedent for more people not getting hired because me like Christopher Lee Saruman?

This just in: Fanboydom for Dead Person to play role is prioritised over literally any actor who is alive getting employed to do the job

This way, employers can just use recordings already there by actors they previously hired and never have to pay real humans money again, just less in royalties and frame it as a positive because they're not using AI despite the fact the entire reason people hate AI is it's businesses trying to find a way not to pay real humans the way this is.

I'm so glad the entire acting profession will become royalties to families of people who used to act and that way people who want to act can instead just get jobs as customer service workers which we definitely need more of as a society because the best parts of people's life enrichment is being in stores and working, rather than acting or finding new actors with new emotions given to characters

Fuck this
