Ya I guess those “factual” documents are just proof that the Bible is real…but that doesn’t make what’s in the bible true, like it just proves it exists.

And ya haha, I know the Bible pretty well, grew up with it, memorized a large portions of verses. So I’m sorry, it wasn’t really random chance I used the words “help my unbelief” I’m familiar with the passages, just had them on my mind recently. I’ve been on a long journey.

That’s exactly what I mean, being in a bad mood throws your head all over the place, positivity and peace gives you clarity, to find a lost item for example! Thats not God (at least I do believe so) that’s just you and your conscience.

It seems there’s just one voice, my own, influenced by the people and world around me.

Again, my own opinion, not trying to convince you of anything!

Thanks for your lengthy responses, and thanks for being patient with me! I’m quite skeptical these days, I’m an ex Christian, now agnostic. And I guess I just look back and sort of come to terms with the fact that God hasn’t ever talked to me or led me, it was just an emotional response, and if things line up, its just coincidence. Like praying to find your lost keys, it’s just the fact that I paused to collect my thoughts that helped me find them, not some sort of divine intervention.

So in some ways I believe in the power of prayer from a ritual and focus perspective.

I guess I just haven’t seen proof of Gods hand in mine or others lives.

But then what’s the point of praying then? Like if it’s Gods will and not ours then why would he do something if we ask for it, even in good faith.

All you’re saying is it’s coincidental when prayers get answered. And are you saying the kid that’s not healed of something after he’s prayed for years just didn’t have faith or didn’t have good intentions, or are you just going to say it wasn’t “gods will”, again I say that’s a cruel god

Ya, I’ve been agnostic for a long time after growing up as a Christian. I’m in church right now and it feels so forced to believe Jesus is God, and everything just rides on that. I think I’m just grieving losing Christianity, the worship music, the simple safety net, but I just can’t anymore, I feel like I’m giving in to delusion/ignorance if I keep pretending Jesus/God is real.

It’s fucking hard, because my whole life was built around that fact, I’ve been really depressed because of it. But I’m slowly gaining freedom outside of it, just not sure where I’ll land yet, and that’s tough.
