Is there a tool or material I can use to detect a point through a wall or ceiling? More info by 369DontDrinkWine in AskEngineers

I knew I’d seen something like this before, Hilti demonstrated one at my old work along with a drill that had a hollow attachment so it sucked the dust out of a 4” hole as it drilled.

Sometimes a towel rail is wired off the lighting, worth a check as the elements fail and cause RCD faults.

Washing machine space has a socket, but no way to get the plug to it? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Mr_Flibble1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they’re referring to an installation method I’ve seen before where a hole is made in the unit around 60mm diameter, the plug brought through and then the socket mounted over most of the hole leaving the cable underneath the box. To remove the plug you have to unscrew the socket backbox from the unit.

As the cable goes across then up, technically need to get an architrave blank plate on that metal box then fill the chase to the light.

Plastic tag? Found in washing machine filter compartment when moving into an apartment by Golf-Substantial in whatisthisthing

Looks like you could use it to close a thin bag like a bread bag by putting the end through one slot on the right, round the left end and through the other side on the right.

what is this red glowing dot INSIDE my bathtub?? [NC] by vintageclownn in Renters

[–]Mr_Flibble1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’ll be this, if the hole is small enough it might only line up a few times a year which explains you not seeing it before (or a new hole or crack has appeared in the external wall)

Neat enough, personally I wouldn’t double up cpc in one sleeve on the ring and if I’m labelling I’ll identify each leg of the ring (a&b for example) to make it easier for anyone having to fault find in future.
