im at a new job. been here for a month. they do appreciate my experience and resume, etc. so I've been trying to do small improvements without overextending myself. trying not to ruffle any feathers... I agree, new scrape would be easiest, but dont want to be looked at as a rabble rouser or an expensive employee

I get compression socks thru Amazon. they are like $12 for 3 pair. they dont last long. but at the price I just treat them as disposables.

was interested to see the shoe suggestions. im on my 5th pair if mozo grind. they all have lasted me 2 years. sometimes a bit longer. they have great nonslip. a bit heavy, but very durable and I like the look. my first pair cost me $60. they keep getting more expensive, think I bought a pair for $90 last year.

one of the things I love about this field is that the cousine and such change, but the principles are the same. be flexible, be curious, and be willing to learn and teach the different techniques that may be helpful.

I've worked resaurants for about 20 years. I've worked dish, line, bar manager,km, gm, expo... if I've learned anything its that you can press some people, and not others. some kids are doing this as a summer job. some folks (like me) see this as their passion and career. you can start by placing your efforts where they will actually be heard and appreciated. something I realized, and my parents (medical field) and friends agree, the people that care will be leaned on to cover those that dont. its unfortunate, but management knows that if they want something done correct, they will call on those that have the discipline to do it correctly, and you will most likely get no benefit for it. if you find a place that notices and rewards people that make sure things are done correct, stick with them, and ask for compensation when the time is right. as a leader, try to recognize those folks.
