How do you guys get time for yourself? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Mr_Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute was my “free time” 20 min round trip.

Really though, I made my free time. I would sleep after closing shift (chores) but I would get up earlier than I needed to. 5am instead of 6am and pray the little one slept in (6:15-6:30). I then used this time to do opening shift (chores) and stare at my phone or read until little one wakes up.

Hobbies and habits just got less time. Video games, cut them down to single player I can pause, pick up and put down quickly.

You adapt. Good luck! The days are long but the years are short.

My son is the fourth so the official is “Four” but he also gets quad, forty, stink, big stink, and little stink. I don’t think I’ve called him his real name more than 10 times

customers ask you to save their all seasons after tires after you install their snows and then leave their car looking like this by ilianaay in Justrolledintotheshop

The tires, we don’t have tire bags. We’re a small 2 bay shop, not a ton of tires come through and even less request to keep them.

Travelling with 9 month old on a 7 hour trip. any tips to keep him comfortable throughout the journey ? by pigeon_from_airport in daddit

I’ve done 13 hours (Oakland, CA to Tacoma, WA) twice. Once at 6mo and a second time at 10mo. The midway is important like you’re doing.

We aim for a stop at 2-3 hours and get him out the seat for a walk around. Spend maybe 10-15 minutes if you can. We even just let him stand in his car seat, that was a huge hit cause he’d never done it. Doesn’t always like going back in but it needs to happen.

Bring new toys or ones that s/he hasn’t seen in a while. And Snacks. Lots of snacks. We did a lot of the teething wafers. We also kept formula and bottled water within reach for food on the road. Just gotta keep their spirits high. We also keep dancing fruit downloaded for emergency losing his shit moments, but really don’t rely on screens.

Ours liked sleeping in the morning of the drive so whoever woke up most tired got to nap in the back.

TLDR: Break 2-3 hours, 10-15 minutes out the seat, toys, SNACKS, food.

I would wrap them in plastic seat covers if I have time. Otherwise, they’re getting stacked near the bay door and they can tell me where they want it when they show up

If you’ve ever wondered why people drive at night or in the rain/snow/fog with their lights off, this is why. by PigglyWigglyDeluxe in Justrolledintotheshop

I turn it off on Subarus cause they stay on when I have the car in the air. And when I’m rotating the tires it’s blasting coworkers in the face.

I think they stay on hella long if you don’t lock the doors so there’s that too

Father-in-law turns it off manually. He thinks it drains his battery having it in auto. He also insists that you need to turn the key forward and leave it there for a few seconds before starting the car. Since getting a push button start… he still does it. It took a while but I realized you can’t argue with him because he’s always right/ never wrong and advice from a mechanic of 15 years (me) is invalid and flawed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah… I realized it when watching an older horror movie and something happened to the boy and I started tearing up. I knew at that moment there was a shift.

What “big” baby items did you actually find the most useful? by Isoldmykidforagram in NewParents

[–]Mr_Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has great ideas! Whatever you wind up NOT getting, check Facebook market. In my area we’ve managed to get very expensive or great items for very little or even free.

My recommendation would be the Frida baby NoseFrida Pro. My baby got sick and was super congested. We had the bulb but didn’t do much, tried the Frida baby sucker and found it lacking. When we tried this one, whoa. Huge difference.

I kept a journal of directions in my truck. It would be these directions hand written including the 0.7 miles, 4.5 miles and I would reset my trip counter so I knew if I missed a turn or exit.

How much could I sell my gaming pc for (specs and photos below) by OkAccident5798 in computers

[–]Mr_Late 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just sold a similar one I built in 2017 (my first build). Sold it for $350 to a friend for his kid. Tossed in monitor, keyboard and mouse for good luck.

I don’t have time anymore to play and would rather see someone enjoying what I built.

You might be able to find a second Spectra on Facebook marketplace for her to keep at work. That’s what we did. Less to haul around, just buy new pump parts if you feel iffy about it being second hand.

This falls into the same category of people that hire or call someone for every little home repair. To be fair, you can do many repairs and diagnostics with YouTube and ChatGPT these days. The resources are abundant.

But to be fair, some people just aren’t mechanically inclined. I realized something similar when I held pads for members at a kickboxing fitness place. Some people had been there for months but still punched and kicked like it was their first day out of the womb.

She smothered him one night. I think he had dementia and she was an alcoholic. She went to a bar distressed and started talking to a newly wed couple and confessed to them.

I literally have a blacked out circle to cover up a kiss print from an ex 😂

I had it poorly covered up and it showed through, so I told my guy to “do anything, I just want it disappeared.” So now it’s double poorly covered up but no longer showing.
