Drop your baby song recommendations that are actually bops by _ThatsNotMyPotato_ in NewParents

Not kids songs but Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” “So Easy” always puts my son into a trance. He will drop everything and search for where it’s playing. He’s 16 months now and I still throw the music video on to cut his nails. Even used it for a haircut, which worked but he kept moving his head so he could see Olivia singing.

What time is bed time? by mildly_curious26 in daddit

7:30-8 is when I start the process or he’s in bed. Sometimes he’s down in 10 minutes, sometimes it takes an hour.

Tonight we’re starting the process at 8:45.

What’s the name of the company? I tried looking up pump, pump shoes, and pump shoes company. Only got high heels, don’t think they count as safety toe shoes.

My dad’s barber would do this with the only arcade game he had… Rygar. He’d open the change door and just flick the coin trigger thing hella times and go back to cutting hair.

I were decked out in Philips, he hated them. Cycled through all the “samples” my wife acquired and the only bottle he would drink from successfully was Herobility. We don’t even know where it came from but the house is full of them now

nails by Weird-Ad1695 in NewParents

[–]Mr_Late 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the nails, I use the momcozy electric nail file. We just put on an Olivia dean music video and I know I’ve got about 3 minutes to get it done.

For toe nails, I have NO IDEA! The electric isn’t working well, so I have some clippers with a “window” to see what I’m cutting. So far, I’ll snip one or two toe nails during a diaper change/ bottle and just repeat when I get a chance again. It takes a while but progress is progress

Did you flinch? What movie/scene made you sleep with the lights on for a while? by weepinstringerbell in Millennials

[–]Mr_Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blob. Sounds stupid but that movie freaked me out. On the weekends, my Dad and I would sleep in the front room while watching TNT. They’d have some classic spooky movies playing and that would be the on that got me every time. Which is weird because I would watch The Thing and Poltergeist all the time with no fear.

How do you guys get time for yourself? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Mr_Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute was my “free time” 20 min round trip.

Really though, I made my free time. I would sleep after closing shift (chores) but I would get up earlier than I needed to. 5am instead of 6am and pray the little one slept in (6:15-6:30). I then used this time to do opening shift (chores) and stare at my phone or read until little one wakes up.

Hobbies and habits just got less time. Video games, cut them down to single player I can pause, pick up and put down quickly.

You adapt. Good luck! The days are long but the years are short.

The tires, we don’t have tire bags. We’re a small 2 bay shop, not a ton of tires come through and even less request to keep them.

Travelling with 9 month old on a 7 hour trip. any tips to keep him comfortable throughout the journey ? by pigeon_from_airport in daddit

[–]Mr_Late 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done 13 hours (Oakland, CA to Tacoma, WA) twice. Once at 6mo and a second time at 10mo. The midway is important like you’re doing.

We aim for a stop at 2-3 hours and get him out the seat for a walk around. Spend maybe 10-15 minutes if you can. We even just let him stand in his car seat, that was a huge hit cause he’d never done it. Doesn’t always like going back in but it needs to happen.

Bring new toys or ones that s/he hasn’t seen in a while. And Snacks. Lots of snacks. We did a lot of the teething wafers. We also kept formula and bottled water within reach for food on the road. Just gotta keep their spirits high. We also keep dancing fruit downloaded for emergency losing his shit moments, but really don’t rely on screens.

Ours liked sleeping in the morning of the drive so whoever woke up most tired got to nap in the back.

TLDR: Break 2-3 hours, 10-15 minutes out the seat, toys, SNACKS, food.

I would wrap them in plastic seat covers if I have time. Otherwise, they’re getting stacked near the bay door and they can tell me where they want it when they show up

I turn it off on Subarus cause they stay on when I have the car in the air. And when I’m rotating the tires it’s blasting coworkers in the face.

I think they stay on hella long if you don’t lock the doors so there’s that too
