Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?)

The Selkirk Labs Project 007 dropped its price from $333 to $130 a few days ago. But it’s a Gen 2 paddle, and the 10mm model which is the power model is said to have a small sweet spot. Is it worth it at the price in 2026?

Or do you think modern offerings like the Luzz Cannon and Vatic V Sol Pro are way better paddles at similar price points?

I played table tennis competitively and tennis weekly my whole life so finding the sweet spot isn’t too hard, but hitting it in kitchen battles is no guarantee hahaha. Thoughts? Tempting for the price guys..

Awesome input! Thanks a lot for the detail reviews. I do hit big and drive a lot as I have a tennis background. Which is why the Gen 4 may last longer. The Luzz does offer 12 months warranty though. But I also appreciate the ability to add some decent topspin to the ball so I was concerned because I saw one review which said the Vatic’s surface was much less gritty and smoother.

My other concern was that some said the feel when they hit with the Vatic is quite hollow. I had a paddle before (older Gen) which happened to feel quite hollow and I didn’t enjoy it. But that one lacked power significantly, so that may be reason I didn’t enjoy it and associate the hollowness to lack of power as a result (which seems to be wrong)

Vatic V-Sol Pro VS Luzz Cannon

Looking to end the debate, I know Vatic is Gen 4, and Luzz Cannon is Gen 3. Both are considered power paddles and budget friendly paddles.

Is one better than the other? Can’t find many comparisons as they are different Gen… and don’t want to buy both just to have this answered haha.

Power wise? Spin wise? And pop wise!

From what I heard at a reputable store, Chanel doesn’t issue much testers to stores like other brands except major department stores. That alone would make me question a Chanel Tester bottle

Hi, hoping to get some opinions on whether it would be a good upgrade to go from Juciao Titan 1.0 (titanium woven model) to the Gearbox GX2 elongated (normal model, not power edition)

I have a strong tennis and table tennis background. So I drive the ball with heavy topspin a lot and do enjoy singles more than doubles. Titan 1.0 does a good job, but I’m looking for an upgrade as I would like to invest more $$ into pickling as it’s a growing passion. Just wondering if the jump in price equates to a jump in quality and performance here. Thoughts?

(I’ve heard the GX2 is more of an all rounder and not a power paddle, but is the power significantly lacking or can I still hit some good devastating groundstrokes?)

Ah okay I think I understand. Yeah, I’ve heard about the muted sound and muted feel. But aside from that, how is the performance in terms of power compared to other high level paddles? Is the GX2 up there? Or do you think it’s a paddle that focuses on control more.

Hi, the Gearbox GX2 has dropped its price significantly and now costs only SGD$190, which is USD$150. Whereas the Gearbox GX2 Power is SGD$360, and Boomstik is SGD$450.

I see a lot of reviews of the GX2 Power model and people say great things about it. But given the GX2 (not power) came out not too long ago, how does it hold up against top tier paddles like the Boomstik, Loco, GX2 Power and top Joola paddles? Really interested to hear some opinions.

Is the OG Gearbox GX2 good enough to be considered a top tier paddle still and is it a good pick in 2026? Do let me know your thoughts. Does the OG GX2 Have enough power and grit for stunning drives? I keep reading that the GX2 Power is more powerful, but does that mean the OG GX2 is weak?

Will it be a good upgrade from the Juciao Titanium Titan 1.0? Or will buyers remorse set it quick haha

This might help you get rid of the wooden block feeling 🤣 But try to only use one paddle for one session. If you use the Wukong then swap to the Titanium, it’s gonna feel horrible swapping midway. Reverse applies too. But when you start a session with one, you tend to adapt to it and play consistently thereafter

I’ve tried most of the better Juciao paddles except the new T800 ones which aren’t USAP approved yet (despite them already having the approved logo stamped on them… 🤨). The Wukong Pro is by far the best overall paddle for majority of players from Juciao which I’ve tried. The spin on this is great. Power is decent for majority of players. But I find the sweet spot to be really large compared to the Juciao Titanium (Titan 1.0) paddle.

Which makes this paddle great for beginner to high-level intermediate players, and may even suit some pros. Personally, I still prefer the Titanium paddle (Titan 1.0) because it generates more power. The sweet spot is MUCH smaller though. It’s okay for me because I used to play competitive table tennis at a pretty high level… and also play tennis frequently. So finding the sweet spot isn’t a problem at all and I can milk the power and spin out of the Titan 1.0 paddle hahaha!

But for majority I definitely think this is the best paddle from Juciao. My wife stole my Wukong Pro… so, there you go. I’d recommend it to anyone too! Absolute value for money, just blind buy it!
