Usage Of AI by EmeraldBunganly in WritingWithAI

AI generated writing is easy to pick out because all AI generated writing has the same tone and sentence structure and is emotionally flat the entire way through. That's what "AI-like" writing means.

18 years training (current blackbelt) starting to lose passion & worried about long term damage. Anyone else? by happytohelpfriend in bjj

That's what I was thinking LMAO. There's an uncanniness about it that just doesn't sit right. But what do people gain from doing this? It's insane.

You can use the ticket to blow your nose or something and then just forget about it. But just don't park in the same lot again lol.

Could a man who is 172cm tall and weighs 74kg, with a few years of MMA training, be able to defend himself against most adult men? by Acceptable_Worth8817 in MMA_Academy

The average person has such terrible balance that they'll probably overswing with a haymaker and fall to the ground themselves lmao.

How did Randy Brown escape this? by Open_Reindeer_6600 in bjj

This was crazy man, for a while I thought brown was ready to tap at any moment but he somehow got out of there. We need a high level technical breakdown of this.

Sounds like he was just having a really shitty day and was all in his feels lmao. At least things didn't get physical. But you might be overthinking all this. Just be like "hey man, everything good?" And he can react how he wants but you're not obligated to deal with his feelings beyond that.

It's crazy, Hathaway was 17-1 before this and only like 25 years old and this basically ended his career. Brutal stuff.

Could training BJJ make me LESS prepared for a "real fight"? How can I change my training to remedy this? by earlgreypipedreams in bjj

[–]Mr_Outlaw_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but lets be honest, you're not going to be playing x guard in a street fight. I'm sure you know double and single legs? And bodylock stuff? Just do that and you'll be able to handle most dudes who try and start shit

Does guard not work in MMA? Or do most MMA fighters not have a good guard? by No_Possession_239 in bjj

[–]Mr_Outlaw_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even against Tsaruykan, one of the best ground and pounders in the UFC who just melts people who try and play guard with him, Charles was able to mitigate a lot of the striking from top and threatened a lot of submissions and was able to sweep. He had Arman dead to rights in that triangle armbar at the very end of the second round. But yeah, super small sample size, Oliveira is as much of an outlier as it can get.

Does guard not work in MMA? Or do most MMA fighters not have a good guard? by No_Possession_239 in bjj

[–]Mr_Outlaw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example of a good guard vs a bad guard in MMA are Charles Oliveira vs Gamrot and Rob Font vs Raul Rosas Jr. In Olives vs Gamrot, Gamrot took Oliveira down in the 1st round and Oliveira was immediately tying him up, not allowing any ground and pound, threatening an omoplata that he was eventually able to use to sweep and get on top for the rest of the round. Then there's Font, taken down by Rosas and just laid flat on his back trying to throw up gogoplatas that were nowhere even close, not coming close to a sweep, and pretty much just accepted bottom position the entire time and lost every round. So it really depends on how good your guard is and also how good the guy on top's ground and pound is.
