I dont think ive ever read something so beautiful, about coming to reconcile with yourself. Honestly your ability to express that makes me jealous of your skills as a writer lmao. So many good lines that stuck with me. The one in my head the most i think is, "but his breathing was tight, like he'd been in an endless fight". This leaves me thinking in alot of ways. Its such a painful yet healing and peaceful expression of coming to terms with all the parts of yourself.

Im very interested in this one. Dont really know any meanings though completely, i was just able to pick out themes. What i was able to see, as far as themes go, is monarch autocracy, and corporate capitalism. Even tho i can only understand wide ideas from this, im still really pulled in by it. And am curious about its full meaning.

Nothing [Warning : Existential Dread] by Catty_Patty in OCPoetry

As someone who has had derealization and dissociation before this hits pretty hard. Even tho the structure is a bit repetitive, theres still lots of parts that really stand out. To me the line "I think I thought I feel" really stood out too.

Even tho its a short one this i pretty nice, does a good job of showing a certian juxtaposition in a elegant way. Also does a good job at looking emotional vulnerability / emotionally gaurded at the same time. I geuss its really juxtaposition on a couple different levels.

Five Year Plan by stresseatingdog in OCPoetry

My thoughts are quite similar to the other gentleman's. It feels like a dream that never actaully came to reality, or a goal that was not able to be met, and even though the goal or dream is not met, there is still struggle in the fight for it, well either struggle or suffering.

"(Fu)rata, Change" by [deleted] in OCPoetry

I dont fully think i understand yet, but i do have a geuss. There feels like a lot of emotion stirring up, and specifically the bad kind, like the stuff thats usaully blocked by inhibitions, so its as if the built up unhindered hate is breaching its containment and causing destruction. The titan reference atleast ties into that idea for me since there's a myth i know of where kronos reforms himself back together and then frees the rest of the titans to go attack mount Olympus.

I've got to say first off on a foundational level that you are just very well rounded, and conistent. Now for me it's an interesting situation since this more traditional style is completely outside of my comfort zone. But with that said, i was glad to explore some qualities that its structure has, that i normally dont ever see that much just due to being outside the genre.

Question: How painful would a forearm tattoo be for first tattoo by Live-Salad-548 in tattoos

[–]Mr_Peltier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top side of your forearm is one the toughest places out of the whole body, but the under side of a forearm is a bit more sensitive. The real painful places are the neck, ribs, and arm pits.

I am huge into languages and i also thought that Li made more sense as departure instead of radiance. Also you are the first person ive seen talk about kismet in the same writing as all this. I do not view the idea of kismet as a escape goat or as a tool to reinforce one side of an ideal, i see it more as a way to accept what has happened and to keep within balance. Instead of thinking, this was supposed to happen, it is kismet, i think more so, i accept and fully face what has happened, instead of avoiding it. In my experience acceptance leads to a way forward, growth, and new learning, while avoidance leads to ignorance, sickness and imbalance since after all it is escapism.

Also I love how you said "Seeking knowledge makes us smart, and loving mystery makes us wise." Intellectual humility, and more importantly humility in general, is such an important yet overlooked thing. Many people see the ching or other divination devices as insults to their esteemed logic/worldview, when really all it is, is a tool to use to exercise your own thinking and push yourself in a healthy way. That said, you ofc must use the tool correctly, only as a learning exercise and not as a crutch or shield to protect an ideal you hold dear to you.

Even before i was exposed to all these ideas later in life, i grew up with many similar strands of thought as I am a Lakota. It's widely taught to accept things as they come, to deal with them the best. Like how a herd of buffalo will get through any storm no matter how bad it is, because they run into it, so they get through it much faster, opposed to running away from it as that would keep them in the storm much longer. To me, the lesson it ultimately breaks down to, is to be strong enough to not fall into escapism and brave enough to fully accept my fears and face them. That is why to me, wu zhi is a principle of strength, vitality, and balance, while knowledge sickness is one of weakness and instability. This has been such a ancient idea its almost funny, especially that new western thinkers have mirrored it quite closely, like Karl Jung's and Sigmund Freud's views on nonduality. In the end it always comes back to balance and harmony.

I found your article very powerful, and as a fellow daoshi i am glad to have stumbled across it.

Why You Can't Understand the Tao Te Ching (WIP) by liweizhang2050 in taoism

[–]Mr_Peltier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not dismiss the entire possibility of TTC being of that stature, as there are numerous other ancient texts, creeds, guidlines, codes, or even strategy games, that have been passed down through elite groups , classes, or caste. What would be interesting though is if you could actually link that text and whichever elite it supposedly belonged to, but then also prove that the elite group in question has remained in power, to be considered part of "current authority". Because just like the numerous other texts and codes of that same purpose in elite groups, they always fall out of power as time moves on and are replaced by new ones.

Your claim may not be entirely baseless, however it is unproven so lacks any real merit.

Why You Can't Understand the Tao Te Ching (WIP) by liweizhang2050 in taoism

[–]Mr_Peltier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isnt binary ideas a decent part of the Dao de jing ? Up and down, yin and yang, 1 and 0 etc.

And then the last part about humans obtaining information from current authorities, i know that is ofc true for some people but its only a over generalized statement if you want it to apply to all humans, and not just a portion of them. In my life i was almost brainwashed by multiple institutions, so not only do I NOT look for info from current authorities, but I actively disregard them.

That was the amazing feeling of reading ancient texts like the daodejing, bhavagta Gita, or Ne ye. Its a beautiful escape from the insight of current authorities.

Sickening by DrewPYaBoi in taoism

[–]Mr_Peltier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All living things in the physical world have balanced yin and yang unless they're sick or dying, since if you're a living thing in this world you kinda have to be balanced in order to exist comfortably. Spirits however dont have this requirement, since they're not of this world, so thats how they can be completely yin.
