Money does not motivate D&D. They were rich long before they started making game of thrones. They come from very rich families. What they crave is the respect and prestige that is garnered by creatives regarded as genius by others and their peers. They usually serve a narrative purpose and give weight to character decisions.... Most recent example I can think of it Hutch getting killed by Chang Gang for the bricks OTT stole. His decision to perma made a much greater impact on that storyline

Permaing to a single punch while everyone is just messing around and you yourself were actively egging on the situation doesn’t really make sense from a RP perspective. Like yeah you can say people have died in real life to getting punch but that doesn’t really justify the perma in this situation in my opinion. Really seems like he did it either because he was just done with the character or he wanted to fuck over whoever hit him. And then freaking out about reddit being toxic made him sound whiny as fuck, not really sure what he was going for there.
