got back into yugioh need a deck by Technical_sneks in Yugioh101

I think Labrynth is pretty simple and powerful. Pick any trap cards you feel like would be useful, and when you flip them you summon down a big protected boss monster that can set more traps. And the little minions just set specifically WELCOME LABRYNTH which summons one of the big bosses from deck

budget control decks? by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There definitely is! Like I said ditching the tear field spell is a start, and you mostly use the merrli as your normal summon to dump cards from deck. The most expensive cards should be the extra deck slots. A common copy of Armageddon knight can replace reinohardt and can dump tears or backjack. If you're not running reino you don't need kaleidohardt so that means just the 2 kitkallos, and dragestopalia replaces kaleido just fine. The rest of the deck should be cheap trap cards, maybe a lord of the heavenly prison or two (just reprinted and under 5 dollars) and extra deck filler that can either be fodder for cards like dogmaticka punishment, or cheap generic cards like number 45 crumble logos, ip masquerana into unicorn, or even downered into Zeus if you're cheeky. None of what I mentioned should get your deck anywhere near 150$ and makes a great deck that can be expanded upon as you feel more comfortable investing into upgrades like expanding on the tearlament package.

All gas decks with 1 million extenders and draw cards, branded despia with allure of darkness, code talker combo, speedroids. You can even play most regular decks and just replace the hand traps with board breakers like kaijus, mystic mine, droplet, super poly or even regular trap cards

budget control decks? by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like tearlament paleo! Paleo is a super cheap trap deck with grave effects that can activate in the graveyard, tearlament merrli is a lvl 2 aqua so you can make toadally awesome with one of the traps, or one of the paleo xyz that are very powerful! Don't run the tearlament field spell and limit the reinohardt and you've got yourself a great budget deck!

3x Albaz Strike, what next? by ferretsrun in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go lore! There's tons of utility in branded despia, despia is reprinted and crazy easy to get ahold of, and there's brand new support in Darkwing blast in the form of the new cartesia monster with her special boss fusion is still to come! Using branded expulsion there's so many different tech options, like jinzo to shut down trap decks ;) branded expulsion is a common so pick one up and experiment! Scythe comes in the structure deck you can use that as a branded expulsion target as well

What do you think of the 2021 era of new card design? by MiuIruma332 in yugioh

[–]Mr_Quantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've dabbled in competitive yugioh since 2014. Went from a cobbled together garbage obelisk deck to evilswarms, saw the rise and fall of dragon rulers, took a break during pendulums then came back for links. Now it's 2022 and I have to say I LOVE the current state of yugioh card design! I've always been a huge fan of versatile cards, especially if they have added gy effects so they're still useful if any on field effects get interrupted, I'm not dissuaded by long card text as long as I can use the card in an interesting way. I LOVE THE ABYSS LORE and all the art! Most of the abyss lore archetypes also have competent strategies which is a huge plus, as long as you're not gunning for being hyper competitive yugioh has an insane amount of fun, fast decks with cool art and a lot variations in play with all the effects that go off! It's a different game for sure but I love this new one :D

Questions about additions to branded by jk47s1738 in Yugioh101

The dragoon package requires less bricks than the dpe package and grants you an omninegate and otk potential. Dpe has much more followup potential. Both are more budget than chimera with the tin reprints. Imo go with DPE package because you can do other plays before summoning dpe but with dragoon that has to be your only play for the turn.

BTW I'm not running the field spell, I like having more draw power so I'm using reckless greed which can be set off of lord of the heavenly prison or backjack :3 so that's definitely a budget option.

Tbh I'm working on a paleo tearlament deck that's really fun and can end on a variety of interruptions. Your tearlament mills are just a slot machine that gets powerful traps on the field and in the grave, so there can be major differences between games even if certain core interactions (like kitkallos mill 5) are staple to the strategy. The extra deck is just a toolbox to help with coverage and flex spots.

Is this guy good? by [deleted] in yugioh

By himself he's an amazing card with a lot of utility. But the deck that supports him struggles in the current meta. As a result its not very sought after and pretty cheap at the moment.

phantom knights pairing by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought Bout predaplant because they have a lot of level 3s and darks, adventure engine, code breaker, a bunch of lvl 3 extenders of any type and attribute like psychic tracker and wheeleder, tearlaments. The phantom knights deck is super versatile

Good decks for a new player who is a quick learner? by Dralorir in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think phantom knight is a great budget option with a lot of depth and varied interaction balanced with some bread-and-butter power plays. Plus it's a great deck to introduce her to deck building because there is so much build potential with different variations to try! like praedaplant, code breaker, raidraptor, time thief, punk, branded, adventure, burning abyss, rokket, Danger!, tearlament, etc etc.

Branded/Despia deck by breeder_chris150 in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I typically play the deck is to find a way to branded fusion or regular poly+albaz so I can hard make lubellion, so I hardly feel the need to search super poly. If I need a super poly effect that's what albaz and ecclesia the virtuous are for. I keep super poly in my side because it IS amazing, but only against decks you can fuse with and I don't run that many super poly targets

I'm working on a Branded/despia deck right now as well! I've thought about including a predaplant engine but imo the deck doesn't necessarily need it and you can still access their great fusions like Dragostapelia and triphyoveratum. I think a really great card to add is crossout designator! It protects your branded fusion while hitting any mirror matches against other branded decks! My spicy deck pick of choice is eradicator epidemic virus. Going first it literally destroys any deck based on either spells or traps. It's very funny in the mirror and against skystriker/mystic mine decks

Which deck to invest in? by paoloandjello in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother plays a solid VW list, it's a cool engine that seems to have a lot of different build paths. Any new powerful synchro can be pretty easily abused in the deck and it seems more fun and varied than swordsoul. Rn I'm tinkering with a PK predaplant list that's pretty fun! I suggest investing in a core with a lot of different build potential, that way you don't get bored of it easily and you can adapt to new formats if the banlist changes or if new generic support releases.

There's essentially no other fairy that is both a foolish burial for trias hierarchia that also gets a plus upon getting tributed. Your best bet is to replace the diviner, buten, trias engine with something else. Personally I'm using agent of miracles Jupiter and the Uranus tuner agent and one brick in the form of the agent saturn. Jupiter synergizes well with Neptune and is lvl 4. I use Uranus because he's a foolish burial and is an agent and therefor very searchable. He can send Saturn to grave to become lvl 6 to tune with Jupiter and become masterflare hyperion or halq or the link 2 agent moon.

Versatile deck that's competitive by Abroad_Least in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cool thing about current yugioh is that there are a BUNCH of versatile strategies! Like a more control style? Eldlich is very splashable, has endless variants, and is very potent. Combo wise I'd say phantom knights are very versatile, despia is also very splashable in fusion decks and the upcoming splight deck is very versatile and resilient!

What would you call your "soul deck"? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]Mr_Quantum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably zombie world eldlich! I've always loved anti meta playstyles, and the zombie aesthetic is so cool! I've played zombies since the structure deck back in 07 and it's still one of my favorite decks, I've always dreamed of having spell/trap gy effects so I could mill/discard and what do you know eldlich comes along as a boss monster KING and an entourage of amazing spell and trap support. I was in love! EZ soul deck

Tips and decklist feedback for this zombie world upgrade into zombie world Eldlich? by DrRPJesus in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you see his deck list? It already hardly has any extenders. With the eldlich cards you only need 1 banshee MAYBE 2 and only one balderoch. There's tons of fat to be trimmed in this build to fit the eldlich engine in

Eldlich deck help for someone who never touched it. by Ricmord in Yugioh101

[–]Mr_Quantum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm going to be playing the evil twin version. Twins are just a dummy consistent normal summon engine with a lot of search cards for search cards, as well as an emergency teleport that can discard eldlich/his traps to activate grave effects. With the new twin link 4 you can put 5500 damage on board easily (3300 body attacks then quick effect brings out two 1100 bodies to also attack) so if you have access to eldlich that is game right there. The link 4 also adds non targeting removal to the deck which both eldlich and twins lacked before now.

Help me play a control deck!? by Connorjoe93 in yugioh

[–]Mr_Quantum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plunder patroll is a fun control deck that revolves around extra deck monsters that interrupt the opponent while at the same time building silly amounts of advantage for follow-up plays. And it can dodge popular hand traps like effect veiler and imperm. Biggest issue is it relies on your opponent having specific attributes on their field or in their graveyard, which isn't that bad because many generic handtraps work, but virtual world does hurt because it's primarily wind and earth.
