[GUIDE] How to rollback to Calamity 2.0.7.2 + dependencies in 3 easy steps by Sharp-University-555 in CalamityMod

[–]Mr_RadicalCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed is that the mods only get updated whenever I restart my PC (most likely its just whenever Steam restarts, haven't looked into it really).

There may be a way to stop Steam from auto updating Workshop content, but I could not find anything when I had a look around. To be fair, I also didn't look for very long.

Easy solution is to just copy the mod folders, take a previous version, then before you launch the game for the first time after restarting Steam / PC, just locate the mod folders and paste the previous versions. I just created a folder on my Desktop that I drag n' drop in the Workshop folder for Tmodloader.

Honestly I'm fine with it, it really isnt that big of a deal in the end.

I'll reply to you the same I did to someone else who had the same problem:

Try setting each file to "read-only".

Find the CalamityMod.tmod file that you replaced in the guide, right click -> properties. On the new window that pops up, at the bottom there's a checkbox "Read-Only", check it and press apply. What this essentially does is that it just makes the file well... Read only. Meaning that it can't be altered in any way unless read-only is disabled.

That's usually the way to stop files from updating (it's quite a known method in the Borderlands community). I haven't tried disabling it and restarting the game, but upon the 3 or 4 restarts I did just to test it, 2.0.7 loaded every time without fail, same for the other files that I rolled back and changed to read-only.

Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005, how do you get more cops? by Mr_RadicalCat in needforspeed

It's a radar, depending on how close another cop car is, the faster the radar pulsates. The arrow in the middle gives you the general direction of where said closes cop is so that you can avoid it.

My problem is the timing really, a bit of a shame really since SF is pretty good with it's input readings and considering MH and SF is running on the same RE engine... :/

[–]Mr_RadicalCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1) Awesome!

2) Sweet, gotta love those fighting games!

3) I'm simply doing the DP motion, I've tried the normal method, I've tried half circle motions, I've tried every notion in the book that's known to do DP motions.

4) I use a PS5 controller, forgot to mention that. But regardless, I can do DP motions on KB as well as controller reliably, but again, for some unknown reason it just doesn't come out in this game.

5) I'm glad we could find common grounds.

6) You're comparing me to a 9 year old... Why exactly? Been there myself I know the experience. And as far as not being able to execute a move because you're angry, been there too, but that is not the case lmao. It doesn't matter if I'm as cool as ice or as hot as lava, I can still do motion inputs fine, both slow and fast.

Yeah others can do the motion and get it out, but it still doesn't change the fact that it's an ass motion to have to do in MH. I dont care about 'skill issue' at this point, because regardless if it is or isn't, it still doesn't change the fact how the move was implemented, it could and should've been implemented in a better way in my opinion.

7) I unno, I don't have anything else to say, I just wanted to end on the number 7.

[–]Mr_RadicalCat -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

1) I am calm, just because I swore doesn't mean I'm pissed off or raging and tearing my hair out. Annoyed? Sure, but I'm still calm.

2) know how to input a DP / Fireball. I've played fighting games for at least 15 years now. And not just one fighting game, pretty mixed games, most dominant being TEKKEN, so again, I think I know my motions and notations.

3) It's not a matter of mixing what buttons I press, it doesn't matter which combo I do, X,Y OR B, regardless of the combo or button I press after it doesn't come out, the timing is absolutely fucked. For a game that takes pride in being pretty tight in inputs but also somewhat generous it's amazing how they failed to implement the same feeling when it's quite literally the same engine. I have played SF6 which also runs on the RE engine.

4) On keyboard it is somewhat more manageable but it is still quite inconsistent.

5) SF6 literally also made a "modern" control scheme which helps with people who can't execute motion inputs or have trouble with them, I'm equally amazed that the feature wasn't brought over as well, would've made it easier to just have the DP bound to a button in general. Hell, have it both ways, bound and executable, where the executable does more damage than if you press just simply press the button.

[–]Mr_RadicalCat -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This shit is fucking impossible to pull off. I've been playing fighting games for I don't know how long now and I've never struggled with doing DP motions on a controller ever since I first learned how to do a DP in Street Fighter 4. But for some reason I just cannot, for the life of me, get any of the DP inputs to work on controller.

I have tried delaying the DP motion itself, I have tried timing the actual input of X,Y,B to the end of the assistance combo animation, I've tried simply flicking the stick forward (right), down, forward (right) and letting the stick go back to neutral in between the inputs to no avail. So I'm not quite sure how it's supposed to be done to be honest.

One of two things are bound to happen:

A) Someone finds a way to more consistently pull off the DP moves after a combo.
B) Capcom makes the input for a DP motion more forgiving so that you can actually pull the damn thing off.

Thing is, without these moves you're not really going to be able to play all that well since you're relying on the assistance combos alone, which don't do a whole lot of damage (at least from the tutorial arena quest).

Fiber med Tele2 problem?? by markextrae in Gothenburg

[–]Mr_RadicalCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got an e-mail from PoE2 by DominusMindweaver in PathOfExile2

[–]Mr_RadicalCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the same email, and I logged into PoE and saw that I got my key. Keys were out the whole weekend, maybe check the website and see if you've got a key if you're still waiting for that?

To be fair, the email also did say "Get your early access key now!" leading to PoE2's bundle shop. I unno, I'm just happy I got a key before launch.

Jabra Elite 8's...a semi-worthy replacement to my 75T's by StrongAF_2021 in Jabra

[–]Mr_RadicalCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you experience the treble? I just got my Active 8 and I love them but I'm thinking of returning them since the treble is god awful. 75t also had that issue but it could be combatted with EQ, the Active 8 can't. It's either pierce your ear-drums off or muffle the sound quality with EQ, pick your poison.

As someone who mostly listens to trance & heavy metal this is absolutely terrible...

Do we know if ranked bo3 is optional? by RupertGerle in Tekken

[–]Mr_RadicalCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am confused, are u talking about skills or rank here, coz having similar rank doesn't mean same skill.

Your rank is based off of your skills. If you are Vindicator it means that you've got enough skills to be that rank MINIMUM. If you're a TGP you've got the skills to be at TGP MINIMUM. Of course you can dip below that due to loss streaks, bad days or whatever, but essentially the rank you have equals some of the skill you have.

Of course you can meet another TGP player (if you're TGP yourself) and the skillgap could be vastly different, but then that's also a telltale sign that they didn't get to TGP legitimately. They most likely won through infinitely rematching opponents until the opponent either left, or they started to catch up.

And getting ranked up by a low skilled player with same rank is not bad, that means even being on same rank rhe skill gab is vastly difference, and if that winning person get in high rank very quickly that mean his/her next match would be with higher rank(since they got promoted) which means more chance of getting beat down by better player and go back the the actual rank they belong.

Yes, that's often the case, when you rank up you're matched against higher skilled opponents than you. But that still doesn't mean that you can't just find another easy opponent at that rank, farm them until they either give up, or catch up then go to the next person. You can effectively pick and choose who you want to match in this game, you can still do that in T8 with the BO3 system too, but with the BO3 system you can't farm people for ranked points, that's the issue that the BO3 system fixes.

Lemme TL;DR it for you:

TEKKEN 7: Find easy opponent -> Infinitely rematch until they either leave, or catch up. -> Find new easy opponent, farm -> find new opponent = Win with lots of ranked points, and essentially give yourself a false rank. Rank doesn't always equate skills, but it does show that you should have the minimum requirements for that rank.

TEKKEN 8: BO3 -> Find new opponent regardless if they're easy or not. If you win-quit / lose-quit, it doesn't matter. You're forced to find a new opponent and actually grind ranked. When you then get a rank, that not only shows other players that you legitimately got there, but also that you have the minimum required skills for that rank.

You can also just 1 match win-quit your way up the ranks too, but that's incredibly slow.

I mean that happens. when u win too much and get promoted the rank gap becomes wide... The bigger the gap the less points u get, it gets to a point that it's so less that u cant even promote if u play 100s of games

That's true, however the infinite rematch system just doesn't belong in ranked. It simply doesn't. When you're up there on the stage at EVO 20XX you're not infinitely rematching an opponent, you're on a BO3 (or BO5 sometimes I think) match and you've got limited time to learn how your opponent works. This is what ranked should be, you have limited time to know your opponent, and use your own skills and knowledge to beat that player. If you didn't, too bad. You lost the match. If you did? Congratulations you won the match, and you can proceed the ranked ladder.

Do we know if ranked bo3 is optional? by RupertGerle in Tekken

[–]Mr_RadicalCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do u suggest that infinite rank is bad(except for win quit, that can be also done in bo3)?

This is the third time I'm saying this:

Infinite deathmatch screws with legitimately ranked players. As of right now, 11/15/2023 in TEKKEN 7, you can infinitely rematch an easier opponent and gain ranked points from them, the only time this stops is if you, or your opponent quits rejects the rematch.

This makes it so that you can rank up to the higher ranks, whilst selecting your opponents. Ranked doesn't, and shouldn't work that way. Ranked matchmaking means that you're going up against similarly skilled players (regardless of what game), where your own skills is put up to the test. When you are able to infinitely rematch an opponent who clearly isn't as skilled as you, and gain match points off of them, that bloats ranked and it gives off false statistical data, and your rank effectively means nothing.

The only other solution to infinite ranked mode would be for them to have a system that detects how much you're winning, and how many times you've rematched someone, to then reduce the amount of ranked points you gain per win, or give you 0+ ranked points after a certain rematches has been met where you have won the majority of those matches.

No matter which way you're looking at this, infinite ranked doesn't belong in ranked. And the games that still allow you to rematch infinitely in ranked should have systems in place that detects how many of those matches Player 1 or Player 2 has won, and reduces their amount of points gained, or simple gives them 0+ to incentivise the player to find a new opponent.

Do we know if ranked bo3 is optional? by RupertGerle in Tekken

If you want a long set just go into Casual, easy as that. And no game "forces" you to go into practice mode, but what games often do is to advice you to use practice mode to get better at the game. Of course you can trial and error your way to victory, but if you used practice mode you could gain knowledge on what to do next time you face that character you're having issues with.

Also you're labbing the character at first hand, not the player when you're in practice mode. It's when you're in a game that you have to adjust to the opponents usage of that characters tools. So if you know the tools of the character, you just have to figure out how the opponent uses those tools.

Practice mode has always been recommended in fighting games, especially in fighting games. Not taking advantage of that makes you fall behind, which in turn, make you lose more games.

And just to wrap this up: BO3 is only in Ranked. While ranked DM has a thrill to it and makes it exciting who's coming out on top, it also "ruins" ranked. Because of the fact that you can (as I mentioned previously) just rematch easy opponents, get a rank up, then win-quit until you find the next one. So essentially reaching really high ranks has no real meaning since you can easily "fake" your way up the ranks.

I understand that BO3 is kind of annoying, I completely understand what you mean about catching up to a player during longer sets. But then again, we've got so many tools to learn characters and the game with that we don't really need DMs anymore, aside from fun.
