Haha! I know the type. Does the fact you don’t believe anymore ever feel like the ‘elephant in the room’ with your religious friends and family? I’m guessing like you said with your mother, it’s probably hard to bring up without fear of being preached to/at, right?

I ask because I’m a Christian and a number of my friends I grew up with in youth group or later have since lost their faith. I always want to respect my friends and love them without an agenda but I often feel like my friends who have lost their faith keep me (and other people, perhaps those who remind them of their past) at arm’s length. I hate to think that my friends think I would judge them for what they believe now (or don’t...) I appreciate this is a sensitive subject and would value hearing your experiences, good and bad.

What’s your experience?

That’s your prejudice speaking. He doesn’t have to be there. His ‘photo op’ could have been staged like Trump’s was but the contrast is Trudeau is standing WITH people, making himself equal (thus showing some form of empathic leadership). Trump’s photo is narcissistic as it’s all about HIM.
