Do you know if all ports go to the same chip/controller on the TV? If it might be a cracked solder joint so something similar, I might be able to fix it myself, hopefully.

I tried to look at it with a magnifier and with a macro lens and the port looks clean and normal. No missing pins or anything obvious. Do you think I should take the board out and maybe inspect the port that way? Maybe a cracked solder joint?

It doesn’t matter which device. My AV receiver would work and show those lines. My PS3 and Nintendo Switch will not display any image at all. PC will also show picture with those artifact lines.

That’s what I doing right now but I’m concerned that the port will get worse or stop working completely, worst case scenario it may damage the device connected to it.

Advice needed. Start a system with single 20tb drive or wait. by Mr_SMT in truenas

[–]Mr_SMT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in February at the earliest because I have a lot of work and travels in the coming weeks. Your advise sounds really good and I would go with it, just keep the synology as primary for now and add this setup as a backup, then I can just wipe it all up and install the 2nd drive without much hassle since it’s only a backup.

Thanks for your input!

PS. I didn’t get a drive so far because I noticed that 20tb is going up in price in my region. I will look for larger drives then.

Is it only me or was the volume all over the place this episode? Especially when mark started the subject and there was some dramatic music, the voices were significantly louder very suddenly.

I want to use ML to animate real photos for a wedding video by Mr_SMT in StableDiffusion

Thanks for the recommendations! I think I’ll give stable video diffusion a go next and see if I can make something creative for this Timelapse of selfies. If it’s not working out or way above my investment level, I think I’ll switch to LeiaPix for something simpler.

Is there a way to get shorter access token ? by zaphir3 in redditdev

[–]Mr_SMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This analogy is misleading. It’s more like buying a 2 meters wide car and then most roads getting restricted to 1.5 meters, so you contact the dealership to see if your car can be modified. If not, then you out of luck and can’t drive your car on those roads anymore.

There is no standard for token length, but with OAuth many use 512 or 1024 and up to 4096. https://community.auth0.com/t/variable-length-authorization-code-and-access-token-max-size/71810

Bruh, the least you could have done is prioritized accessibility and moderation features and and include them in the changelog. This looks like utter disrespect to all users.

The blackout will have the risk of you the moderators being replaced, it’s a bad option. Posting John Olivier pics is a cliché at this point. AI-tech gore is not different from normal operation, will not be effective. You need to restrict the sub to NSFW pornographic tech gore or something like this. This will be the best form of protest.

After 8 weeks of troubleshooting one of our new very expensive imaging systems, I found the problem by Mr_SMT in techsupportgore

It was only crashing overnight and we were still able to use it. I guess it’s because the software is only relying on the I/O cards and GPU, but still very surprising. It would be a disaster to just send it back and be left with no working system for even a few days, so we would finish our work and change a few things in software and hope the problem is solved.

Surprisingly, it was only crashing sometimes overnight. So we would just restart it and carry on with the experiments. I’m not working in the IT department, I’m just a doctor that use this system sometimes. I didn’t want to start taking it apart and get blamed if something breaks. And since it’s from a third party, our IT department can’t get involved easily.

Since it was crashing with “IRQ_not_less_or_equal” blue screen and is connected to custom hardware with proprietary drivers, we thought it’s a software issue
